Ok I can see the hog because of the size, but why a deer? Extra range?
Sorry to be so clueless...not a shotgun expert.

Sorry to be so clueless...not a shotgun expert.50 cal black powder.not a 50 cal bmg.Its like shootin a 300 mag at the deer.

Ummm, I don't even know what bmg means, and not sure how large the 300 mag is either.

Guess I'll just stick with with my little Browning Buckmark, and the S&W .40 and leave this thread alone.
That's still a nice looking weapon Steve! :)
And just invite us to the cookout, ok? ;)

.50 BMG..... Browning Machine Gun.... as in the Ma Deuce. Think of a 30.06 shell but about 3 times bigger. Has confirmed kills out to 2500 meters and beyond in Iraq. 300 Mag is a 30.06 with more powder behind it (alot more).
The .50 caliber muzzle loader is generally the most common caliber used for black powder hunting. A little more range and power than the 12 gauge slug.
Does that help?

Ok that does help. Thanks for taking the time to explain all that PoBoy.

I just know my bombs. I love to shoot, but all of that was starting to go way over my head!

That is a nice combo steve. I have the cva kodiak magnum and it shoots pretty good. I'd rather be huntin with my mathews bow though. But I'll hunt with a slingshot if that's all that's legal. Where you huntin hogs at? I've taken about 40 of them in east texas. My favorite meat by far!

Nice looking setup. Thats all new to me that you can use the same shotgun to shoot blackpowder, I always assumed the black powder guns were way WAY different. I also never new a black powder gun was good for any sort of longer range shot, I just thought it would be a lot like a shotgun with a slug.

Never shot a hog or boar since we dont have them up here in Canada but I would love to do a boar hunt, or even a hog hunt if I'm ever in an area durring a season with someone that could take me.

Heres all my babies.....
From left to right,

All I've got is a Remington 870 Express. I used to hunt with a 30-30 marlin though. Before that I hunted with a 12Ga breech load
