I say that something be wrong with your tender. R they not supposed to shut down and just "maintain", once battery is charged?
If it's full, should be fine.
Once it croaks, I think the Cap'n has a new battery for sale.

If your battery was low, the battery tender will charge at a higher amperage (6+ Amp). This will cause the battery to "off gas" and thats what your probably hearing. This is normal.
Once the battery gets to a full charge the tender will slow the charge down to somewhere around 1 Amp and this is what maintains the full charge in the battery.

i just started using the Tenders myself. I know that I almost always heard the battery bubbling when I charged em years ago. They were always fine.
