I ordered a custom rad relocate for an outlander 800 and its worked great and actually been a huge part of protecting my quad on tips.

That has brought me here for a few questions. I noticed that the powder coating has worn off on the edges and started to rust and flake off. Huge parts are coming off now and im unsure how it all started but I have a good 5-10% of the powder coat all flaked off and the metal underneath is rusting now. I also rolled my quad over and its slightly bent in a few places.

Should I just bang it out and then sand/repaint it? how would I deal with powder coating and is it even suppose to do this? Are there any cheap or solutions I should know of?

Just throwing this question out there...

(ps. the rad relocate is so strong its actually protected my handlebars/switches/pod from damage mutliple times now. so that heavy duty setup you have is awesome and sure has paid for itself in protecting my stuff!)

I'm gonna assume that the rollover(s) played an integral part in the wearing and peeling of the powdercoat. You got the right idea though, just bend it back, sandblast, prime, paint, rocker guard, powdercoat, etc...then highlite the RDC on the side..LOL

Power coated paint doesn't like to bend/stretch, did it peel where to twisted or bent it?

Your kit isnt the forts to save the front bars and controls, we do make em strong. As for the powder coating, post up a few pics, it could very well be the location where you have bent the parts that is peeling.

Trying to get a picture up, but the places it started was the edges of the top (where the skull is). The edges have been peeling for a while now (slowly) but the bend is in the middle and theres no peeling around that. The legs where it bolts onto the quad, those are bent as well and there is no peeling.

Keep in mind, even if it fully rusted I still love it. The solid design has paid itself off!

Heres a good picture of it. This is before any bending/damage from flipping happened. At this point I bought it last year summertime (when they came out) and its gone through a summer/winter and now this summer this is what it looks like. I have a picture during winter where it was still fine.

Sandblast then powdercoat or paint. Still looks cool regardless though.
