They are calling it "Pure Sport" ........ Dont think thats directed at the Commander ..... It has never been labeled like that.

Does that mean it "can do it all"? Lol I sure like it. Hope the HP numbers are the real deal. Thems some saweeeet numbers to be starting with. hehehe

Hope the HP numbers are the real deal.

What numbers? Only 'Official' numbers I can find are the same old 70hp. The kids on Crap lifter are talkin higher.

Doubt it......its still an Arctic Cat! LOL

Bad Kitty

ah hahahaha. funny guy Scott. Lmao!

Thats EXACTLY what I meant!!!
95+HP is a heck of a number to start playing with, would U not agree sir?
Them numbers came directly from the A/C sales Exec. on another forum a couple months ago. Has twin 50mm throttle bodies and ceramic coated 2into one exhaust. i'm sure that the 951 has ALOT more in it if it was reliable enough for sale. Soon we shall see.

Wonder what the price starts at?

Is there an official release date or any word when dealers will start getting them in?

Doubt it......its still an Arctic Cat! LOL

It was made for the dunes out west. Definitely not a mud machine.

stricker76
07-27-2011, 07:08 PM
Exactly! Definately not a do it all........trails up here are too narrow for it to be able to do much.

BOOMERANG
07-27-2011, 08:39 PM
Down South also. No fenders to speak of, or fender flares. That thing will be slinging some mud.

Oh holy Honda when will you do a 800 cc platform! NOT!

Bad Kitty
07-27-2011, 09:27 PM
The add said there was gunna be 50 available accessories for it by year end, fender flares were one of them items.

It is a very wide machine, that is true. A couple of good bumpers will widden some trails. Lol
It has lots of suspension travel and ground clearance. Put a lift in it and as long as the axles and diffs can handle it, big meats on it will go quite a few places. We'll havta C.

It's 64" wide just like the XP and I have heard 95 & 100 HP quoted. The Commander is at 85 and the XP claims 87 so I bet it has at least 95HP.

My Commander is to wide so I could never use the Cat as a woods ride. They should sell allot of them out west

looks like a big go cart...........would be a blast in the dunes....i don't know what else it would be good for

Yup, and you don't see any of them up here either. Any talks of making a narrower non-sand dune model?

You can always make it narrower but I think the RZR 800 would be a better option

Maybe one of you can explain this to me:
They claim 17" suspension travel and 13" of ground clearance.
Doesn't that mean that 4" before your suspension bottoms out, you start dragging your skid plates?

BIG_T
07-29-2011, 11:16 AM
Oh, and the RZR XP900 is rated at 88 hp

Bigdog800EFI
07-29-2011, 11:45 AM
Any machine that is set up for top performance has sag built in to the travel. It may have 3 or 4 inches of sag and still have the clearance numbers posted

BIG_T
07-29-2011, 12:19 PM
Unless it has 5" of sag at that clearance, the skid plates are going to hit before it hits the suspension bottom.

Bigdog800EFI
07-29-2011, 02:29 PM
Come on T. fulcrum, levers, pivot points...you more than anyone should see this!! lol

30% ride in sag is common

800Stealth
07-29-2011, 06:47 PM
If anything doesn't have a few inches of sag factored into it's ride height the ride will be terrible, all you would feel on every bump and crest is the suspension topping out. Almost every passenger car out there will stuff the frame into the ground before the suspension reaches it's travel limits, not realy comparable to a dune buggy but still normal in design.

Wow. Dash looks very boxy and cheap. Was expecting lot more curves and modern futuristic look but looks almost retro.
Looks a nice machine asides that and I'm just picky. Lol

I thought the same thing. I like the way my Commander looks compared to all the rest. For anything over 15G's I want it to be more like a car

Here is what was posted on highlifter when someone said something about the dashboard

C&P

-it has thousands invested in suspension on EACH machine.
-it comes FACTORY with power steering in a BILLET rack
-it has more power than any other machine on the market
-it has more ground clearance than any machine on the market
-it has nearly double the suspension travel of any machine on the market
-it will be faster than any machine on the market
-it has the engine in the rear behind the driver and passenger giving more cockpit room
-it has baja trophy truck inspired weight balance

-IT COSTS LESS THAN AN XP which is a cheaply built squeak box if you ever rode in one. compare it to the XP all you want. this may not fit your style, it was not a purpose built mud machine its a sport side by side. made to go fast and outrun everybody else. it WILL fit any tire you put on it, and ride good while doing it with power steering and plenty of ground clearance. arctic cat used very nice seats, they resemble a commander seat, which is very comfortable! you can complain about the cheap interior all you want, i see others on the commander forums are. seems like the disapproval ratings are going up as the jealousy climbs. how do you plan on making a machine with this many nifty parts cheap? well having a light weight body and no goodies in the cockpit is how. dont worry arctic cat already has roofs and stereo setups available after purchase. it wont come with these parts you will have to buy them seperate. how else you plan on keeping a machine like this cheap? it aint a honda anymore you cant buy a machine with a $5000 suspension setup for cheap. this machine ups the bar in every category and is priced cheaper than its next competetor. the interior looks just fine to me. i am all for it 100%. i dont care what it looks like, do i like the body? not right now, not particularly, but it will grow on me while i have my right foot planted into that rocket

I love whoever wrote that, though I have a few clarifications on it:
ground clearance:
RZR XP=13"
Wildcat=13" Those look equal, not more
Suspension travel:
RZR XP=14" rear
Widlcat=18" rear (that's only 29% more, a long way from "nearly double")

still say the dash looks crap. I think the body and stlying is awesome, much more "fun" looking than the commander and more sleek than the rzr(hate the rxr XP extended fenders)
fan boys will be fan boys.

Think cat have come up with a true dune sxs unfortunatly it doesn't even come close too the commander or rzrs other aspects such as trail friendly etc.

each of the sxs's out right now all have great points and bad points. If they got one too keep everyone happy then life would be boring..LOL

It's a bet you would lose. I'm not saying it's ugly because it's a Cat and I like to poke fun at them, it's just ugly because it's ugly. If Polaris came out with something like that I would be ashamed to ride my bike with there name on it. And on top of that, it's the famous "Gag Green"

Long wheelbase should ride smooth. No? It's to wideand long for the trails, but it's been advertised since the start as a dune ride. All people want to do is bash it for this or that. I would take one if given to me. I surely wouldn't pay over 22k for one. It's around 18,800 up here. Then with the dealers prep and bla bla, taxes. = Screw that sheeet. Lol
I have seen so many different greens in the adds. IF it's the metallic green like the MPs, thats nice I think. It's getting old fast, they put it on nearly every model FFS. I'm really interested in how the twin TBs work. IF they are tuneable or not. Shouldn't be long till we know. I hope.

Jimmy
11-25-2011, 05:11 PM
Sorry Bad Kitty, no twin throttle bodies. AC is de-tuning this thing from their first claims. It's supposed to have a lot of carry over stuff from the quad set ups. :(
So much for being the fastest, at least they ride nice.

Bad Kitty
11-25-2011, 09:03 PM
I thought thats what a;; the whoopla was about, the twin TBs??? If it's gunna have 90-95 HP, they musta done it in the puter then. Oh well, I don't have the near 25k for it anyhew. I wonder just wht the first year problems will be, considering they're using mostly already made parts???

Whatcha think of the site brudda???

Jimmy

It's great! I love the info and the banter.
It's too bad about the wildcat though. It's like AC is trying to save money or something. I also heard that it was lawyers that said no to the twin TB's, but we'll never know! :(

Got to ride one of these last week and it is a blast!!!!!!

On one part of the course about a 1/2 mile stretch I was above 70 mph. It was soaking up all the bumps, hump and trenches giving almost a smooth ride. Into the woods and running most of the trails at 40 plus. Really fun to catch air in, when it launches you can't tell when it leaves the ground and when it lands, the suspension soaks up everything.

It is still the same 1000 but does have a bigger throttle body; also it has a new ceramic coated exhaust, two pipes in to one muffler.

Unlike most other side by sides you sit in this one, I'd say the passenger ride height is 8 to 10 inches lower. The seats are a full tilt racing seat, they keep you where your suppose to be and are very comfortable.

Climbed 75 degree plus inclines with no problem.

We ran with the 4 wheel drive (Unlocked) most the time. Power through turns it a blast, almost no rear end power slide with the 4 wheel drive engaged. Unlimited doughnut with the 4 wheel drive turned off.

Radiator is located behind the head rest with twin cooling fans.

As far as mud I don't know, we haven't seen rain in so long we couldn't even find a wet spot.

The big thing I noticed is after close to three hours in the seat I had Zero body fatigue, I’m over 50 and sore joints.
