Well as you all may remember i sold my brute back in 2010 and havent been riding since.
the past few weeks ive been looking for a sxs. well i came acrossed this 2007 rhino 450. it is gonna b a project. motor is blown. its rough, needs rear cv shafts rebuilt, rear a arm bushing, rear bearings, rear brakes, plastics. (think bout painting the hood and dash), bed is junk so ( may build a flat bed for it).

if it wasnt for the good deal i would of not bought it but i gave $700.00 for it.

Looks like a good project! A winter project! dump bed is probably handy at soem point in time! But a Flat bed could look cool.
Do it up in flat black with a wood flat bed! lol

it is a very big project. but i figure n the next year or so it should b done. i figured if i need a rhino with a dump bed i can use my parents. so this one is most likey getting a flat bed since the bed is bent up pretty bad

well this afternoon. i took all the plastics off, and the roof off. power washed everthing to get the million pounds of mud that was under all the plastics.

now gonna chop the cage n do a few odds n ends. while looking for a new motor or waitin to see if i wanna rebuilt this one.

dcfox
09-12-2011, 08:33 PM
That was going to be my first suggestion...to chop the cage.

harmonsbrute
09-12-2011, 08:37 PM
wats the best way to do. take 4inchs off the bottom or out of the center?

dcfox
09-12-2011, 08:40 PM
4" of of the bottom of the rear bars and redrill.
5 3/4" cut out of the front down bars.
cut between the 2 cross bars on the top...and add a 3 1/2" spacer in there.
feel free to call me if you want to talk more about it.
We've done 3 cages so far.it's pretty easy.

dcfox
09-13-2011, 07:50 PM
I say a diamond plate flatbed...spray the bed,and top with LineX...put a 2" CFM lift on it...
a set of 27" Outlaw Radials on black MSA Diesels...and paint the plastic olive drab.

harmonsbrute
09-13-2011, 08:57 PM
like the way you think david. but wat about painting the plastics black? instead of olive.

have you lowered the seats n urs yet?

dcfox
09-13-2011, 09:06 PM
Haven't lowered mine yet...hasn't been an issue.But I'm only 5'8".
Not building lowered bases until I can afford a set of Rzr buckets.

Reason I was saying olive...was for a military look.

dcfox
09-13-2011, 09:07 PM
I'm thinking this color...
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Z-DFU2Uf3KA/TUHYYo5DFbI/AAAAAAAAGiI/9YQ2zEUCr4E/s1600/WWII_Army_Jeep%255B1%255D.jpg
Heck...even the star on the hood would be awesome.

harmonsbrute
09-13-2011, 09:07 PM
im gonna lookin into building a set of bases if not just buying a set. rzr buckets would like sweet. your buddy's rhino looks great with the rzr buckets.

dcfox
09-13-2011, 09:09 PM
I could really run with a project like this....

Then...
a couple ammo cans(for dry storage) and a military gas can mounted on the bed.
military folding shovel mounted somewhere.
and since you're going with a non tilting flatbed...dual winches...one front and one rear.

harmonsbrute
09-13-2011, 09:13 PM
ya that may look good. im gonna have to see if i can pick that paint up in a spray can. spray the hood and see wat it looks like. i can always sand it back down and respray it another color. your ideas are gettin better david

dcfox

wow...definitely different...but I really... dont like it.

harmonsbrute
09-13-2011, 10:48 PM
that cage is very different. n i dont really like it. i think il stick with the stock cage. thats been choppd

sweeper
09-14-2011, 05:05 PM
Just a thought, I'm not crazy about how it leans back so far.

dcfox
09-14-2011, 07:55 PM
With mine...you could unbolt the cage...and bolt a stock one right back on if you wanted to...or swap mine to another rhino in about 10 minutes.
With that one...what you have...is what you're stuck with.

09-19-2011, 06:41 PM
Can you swap to a 660 or a 700 if you come across one or does it have to be the 450 for everything to be a bolt in? I'm just curious.

harmonsbrute
09-19-2011, 07:56 PM
ive talked to a few people bout that. they say you can swap to a 660 if you could find a wreck one. cuz they say you will need to change alot of things. but i dont know for sure. right now i am trying to deal with a guy out of AZ that has a 450 motor for sale

moto92
09-23-2011, 08:43 PM
yea i think the 450 has lower gearing, so if you went with the larger motor youd need to cnage the diff too.
good thing is the 450s seem to turn the bigger tires better with that gearing

harmonsbrute
09-26-2011, 11:57 PM
well i just thought id update this. i havent done anything to it lately i finished painting the plastics and put the rear end back together.
ive found a motor out in new mexico im trying to buy now. so maybe if this deal comes through i will have it running in 2 weeks or so..

Hey Adam considering the date you bought it on, ever thought of some patriotic themes for some of the graphics?

dcfox
10-09-2011, 09:13 PM
that was part of the reason i was pushing him towards olive drab with an army star.

harmonsbrute
10-09-2011, 09:19 PM
mark. david gave me the idea of the paint and the army star. im waiting on the star AGAIN. since it got messed up. im going to do the star n the center then U.S.A on each side of it for now. then i may do sumthing on the ammo cans also.

Rebel64
10-10-2011, 09:39 AM
