I have a 2011 XMR with an hmf swamp series muffler in it. The air filter is a reuseable pod type air filter. I hear alot more intake noise then stock paper filter.

Ever since the dealer installed the new air filter (when I did my 100 hour service) I noticed the bike is pretty lean in the lower part of the midrange where the motor actually doesnt run that great. I know when I install a aftermarket muffler it will flow better then stock and make the bike run leaner. Now with the different air intake filter, I am suspecting that it is flowing slightly better and more lean.

I was thinking about maybe buying a power commander (unless you have a better idea for one) to help the motor out and give it a bit more power possible (in the mid range where I feel it should have more get up and go.)

do you guys have any opinions on any other mod performance wise I might be over looking? I am thinking power commander to feed the motor more fuel because it feels lean to me. (no back firing out the muffler tho)

Or is this even worth doing? Is the bike ok to run aftermarker muffler and air filter with out remapping the motor? I had a power commander on my street bike a long time ago and it also allowed me to play with timing as well..

I feel like the bike should go faster on the top end (105km/h the computer retards the timing agressively so the bike will not go over 105. Its funny at 104 it still is going good then 105 it slows down like I just lost a sparkplug

And I also heard that xmr's are de tuned motor wise in maybe timing etc? Can you tell me anything about the xmr motor thats different then your standard 800 can am?

Also, is the can am 650 a HO motor does it run on premium fuel?
My manual states to run regular in my xmr, so I am guessing its not a HO motor with high compression and advanced timing.

Thanks for your time reading this.

Go monster if you have the budget

you can change your muffler with no issues. As well as your filter however your stock believe it or not gives you the most gains. My twin air is sitting on my bench collecting the dust in my shed lol..

As for your engine it is re-tarded and is done so from Factory

you can use Regular. but premium fuel is all I use.

Other than that there Are others on here that can get into more detail.. as for your engine its about as fast as your going to get it unless you are prepared to spend big money on a new computer. And or engine work.

XMR is governed to 105 or so,,
All Can-Am's run on regular, no advantage to run on premium
