Gee, I feel all warm and fuzzy!!!
Realy, thanks for the welcome. I only found out about this forum becuse I wanted to ask Paul a question.
I'll get my avitar and signature done soon.
I just got most of what I need to rebuild my motor and will be starting that this weekend.
The head, cylenders, and new pistons are still in Ohio.
As some of you might already know, I have my 4 wheeler tore down to the frame for powdercoating, rebuild on the motor, both gearcases, new snorkles, and new, painted plastic.
I hope to have it ready for the Mud Nats. LOL
Again, Thanks for the welcome!!!

Wow!!
If you look at my avitar, that's a mockup of what it will look like. The snorkles on the front rack will be gone. You can't see it in the avitar but the a-arms and springs are going to be white. I even had the oil fill tube powdercoated the color of the frame.

I tore down the lower end today. Prety simple.
I will pick up the 2 bearings that I had forgot next week.
Remainder of parts WILL be at the powdercoater tomorow. I hope to have them back by Friday and have a rolling chasis next weekend.
The lower end will also be back together next weekend and if my head comes back I should have the motor back in also.
I'll just keep my finger crossed.

Mud Duck
03-15-2008, 11:15 PM
Yes it's powdercoated.
Rebel, Waiting for parts, and that has been killing me. The bumpers came back red and should have been white. AAARRRGH!
I still don't have the head, it will be here on Thursday or Friday.
I hope to have the steering and wireing done tomorow.
I don't have time to get it painted before Nats. (I want to get the snorkles done first), so I'll spray paint the old plastics for the Nats.
Mud Duck
03-15-2008, 11:18 PM
Thanks. That will work. I have to open Photosop and resize them again. Give me a min.

mudsportsman, Mudbuster cam, custom CP pistons, port and polised head (port matched intake and exhaust), custom oversived stainless exhaust valves w/ a unique valve job that is only done by one shop in the country, new bronze ( the 04.5 did not have bronze) guides, new lifters, new pushrods. ceramic coated pipe w/ a bung for a wideband, and then ther is the lower end that I wish not to discuse. LOL

03-15-2008, 11:39 PM

Just my every day race bike!!!
I'll have to run C14 ( I'll run Sonoco 114 octain, I could probably run C12 but I have C14 availible) so I can't afford to trail ride it at $8.00 per gallon.
Someday I'll get another bike so I can ride.
I'll have to run C14 ( I'll run Sonoco 114 octain, I could probably run C12 but I have C14 availible) so I can't afford to trail ride it at $8.00 per gallon.
With the way gas prices are soaring you might be looking at near $10.00 a gallon by summer time for the 114 octane.

Ain't that the truth. My neighbor has several dragsters and keeps 2 or 3, 55 gallon drums of the stuff around.

those damn red xs' suck!!!
Mud Duck
03-16-2008, 03:48 PM
No. They are small time. I say small time, I was there the other day when they uncraeted a $100,000.00 bilet alluminum Hemi motor. In Houston he sut it down as he shifted into second and tore the rear end out of it in the second run. Still qualified 5th with one pass!
He also just bought one of Jegs rails last week.
They did go to Florida just a few weeks back, for a week of raceing.
Last week they were in Houston.

Mud Duck
03-16-2008, 07:08 PM
No!!! I just got home from the machinest, He has an empoyee doing my job and the guy is ....well,slow. They should be done in about 30min.
I did get the wiring harness on. It was a mess to begin with. I will make it look much better, right now it's just on there and a few things are hooked up. No wire ties yet. I will have to wait untill I have the motor in to tie it all up. As soon as he calls me I will pick up the spacers and head to my budies shop and put the strut together. Gotta love the strut machine!!! It will be a rolling chasis tonight. Well I may leave the wheels off just for more room to work.
I'll post more pics tonight.

Are you planning on painted the hubs as well?
Looks good.
Mud Duck
03-17-2008, 06:14 PM
Nope. The only paint will be the plastics. I do need to do something with the big washers on the lower rear a-arms.
Mud Duck
03-19-2008, 02:56 AM
Got the front and rear fenders, and hood preped for the spraycan (YUK!) paint job today. I'll do the side covers and pod tomorow.
With any luck it will dry out enough to paint them this weekend.
This rain had better stop or the campgounds at Mud Nats. are going to be crowded. LOL
Mud Duck
03-19-2008, 11:10 PM
Sprayed the front and rear fenders and the hood. They look like butt.
They will do for the week I guess.
Tonight I will prep the side covers and the pod.

Mud Duck
03-20-2008, 05:29 PM
I sure hope so.
Good news, I just got a call from After Midnight Racing. Glenn is on the way to UPS with my head right now. If I can afford the overnight cost, I'll have it tomorow!!!!!
Now I have to find a new bolt for the flywheel. Polaris says they are the same, But the "new" (cough) crank has different threads!

Mine's a 700 and as far as I know there is no aftermarket crank for it.
Also, you can not go oversized on the pistons as there is just no room.
Mud Duck
03-21-2008, 01:02 PM
Woo Hoo. My head is here. At least that's what I here. I'll pick it up on the way to work tonight.
Bad news. Pipe will be back from the ceramic coater on Tue.
I may have to call in a favor and borrow a pipe just to get it fired.

Mud Duck
03-23-2008, 01:52 PM
Oh yea.
I was going to try and start it today, but, Too much stuff will have to come back off to put the new gas tank on. I think I'll just get the cracked gas tank, front plastic, and rack installed so I can get it to the fabricator in the morning for the snorkles.
I'll have it back on Wed. and I'll have the gas tank then also. Then I can put the radiator and front end back on and fire it up. Prob. next weekend. I'm on vacation starting Friday.
mudsportsman05
03-23-2008, 02:54 PM

I droped it of at the fab shop this morning for the snorkles. I have to work 12 hours a night for the next 4 days so I'll pick it up Friday morning.
Mud Duck
04-07-2008, 10:50 PM
Well I just got back fron the Mud Nationals.
I loaded it up and left last Sunday. I helped HL put up some fencing and signs. Tuesday I took the carb apart and cleaned it up.
Then it cranked and cranked. Still nothing. I knew it had fuel. I had checked the spark at home when it wouldn't start.
I had taken picks and knew the timing gears were right.
I removed the spark plugs to check spark again and about died. The piston bearly hit the plugs and closed the gap!!!!!
So I whent in to Jacksonville and found some copper shims to put on the spark plugs and she fired right up! I didn't know that Dynojet was there with there dyno, so I messed with the jettin on Wednesday.
Then came the clutching. I messed with that up until about 1 hour after the Mud Bog had satrted. I got the heaviest weights I could find and raced it but they were not heavy enough.
That motor revs so fast that it pegs the limmiter at half throtle.
I'll do some more tunning on it and get her right.
