Does anyone know any spec information on the difference between Turner and Gorilla Axles?
Does one handle trail riding better then the other in terms of heat resistance and what not?
Are the joints basically the same on each brand or is one brand stronger than the other?
What about boots, any difference between company?

SOrry for all the queestions, but this is a Huge investment for me considering my cash flows and I have to make my mind up soon or I wont have them before my next ride.

Also, one more question, I can get 2 brand new front Turner axles for 300 total. However, that is for the extreme duty stock replacements which come w/ a yr. warranty just as their heavy duty axles do. What would ya'll do?
Thanks

I wish I had recorded the whole conversation that I had with Daniel about the history of his product going all the way back to when Gorilla copied his original design.
He's done nothing but improve on the axles in the past few years.
Look up sdf1201 (Scott Fischer) on HL...he can tell you a lot of info you're looking for.

Good luck.
My moto that I run by is.
If you don't have the money to do it right the first time, when will you have the money to do it again?

Bigdog, you hit the nail on the head. The money you save won't help when your ass deep in the muck with a cratered cv or axle.

But its not like I am running a huge lift, and I dont have a huge motor. So I would think these axles would be fine, I mean they are stronger then the stock axles and both come w/ a warranty so, how does it make sense to spend 700 vs 300? I mean I could replace all the axles on my bike for less then the 700. I also talked to a few people about the axles and they said it sounds like its exatcly what I need.

So what is the difference between the two axles?
Is their actually that much that can be changed to make one better than the other?

wow thats great, so true, I kinda lived by that without knowing the phrase.

the one I generally try to reinforce in the service work is this:
"working cheap is like eating soup with a fork, your always eating and your always hungry"

What do you mean, bewteen the 2 turners>?
If so I am not exactly sure. I talked to some people and I guess they are made from the same material, one is just bigger then the other. I dont know though.

I was meaning between the gorilla & turners.
Other than size about the only thing that can be changed is if the axles are double or single plunge.
My Axle system axles are single plunge & gorillas are double. Meaning my axle shaft only slides in & out of the inner CV & the gorillas will slide back & forth in both inner & outer.

The guy at Axle sys. said they used a single plunge because the double will bind more often but can be run at a bit of a steeper angle i guess.

Mudsportsman, with the 500 I don't think your going to have a problem either.
I"ve seen alot of 500's running 29.5's on stock axles with a 2" lift with no apparent problems. I think it's the 700 and 800 bikes that are breaking stuff.

Thats exactly what I am thinking, and hoping lol. Well I guess if they keep breaking thats what a warranty is for.

O gotcha. That makes sense. have you had any problems with yours?

probably cause the 700 800 are a bit heavier or so it would would seem...
I think mine with the front rear brushguards 3000 winch and custom made, and NOW reinforced hitch is round in the 9's

The weight could have something to do w/ it but I would say its more the extra power. Also, I am only running 26" tires so thats the same as stock size. So I should be alright, I guesss I will be finding out.
Tork, I see you posed in another thread about axles, what other axles are you talking about?

I'll get the email..

The Polaris type axles that use a cv joint instead of a u-joint are one inch longer and can not be interchanged. I'm working on a Gorilla type front axle where we replace the u-joint with a cv joint but these cost $249.95 each. If you let me know how many you'd like along with your zip code I'll give you a complete quote. You can email me or call 1-800-338-2326 M-Sat. 8-6 e.s.t. and ask for Danny.
Thank you,
Danny Walburn

mudsportsman05
03-22-2008, 11:03 PM
So you have had good luck w/ their boots?

I asked about these axles on HL I believe, and I didnt get any response.
Someone said he didnt want to honor his warranty or soemthing like that.

torkmonster

I would say that yes, the heavy duty ones are STURDIER than stock. IMO

I figured I would give ya'll an update:
Well I just got off of the phone with seth from stateline customs. (great guy to deal with). Anyways, the way he explained it to me on the phone, the axles are not Turners, (not sure, who they are made by, he said the company is based out of California.) SO I was a little skeptical, but I continues talking to him and he said he has been running these axles on his 500 w/ the slc 3" lift and 29.5's and is still yet to break one. SO that is good to hear. I am ordering them tonight, and when I get them in I will let ya'll know all about them. I am actually very excited to see what they are like.
