Ok...I'm about to order my new tires/wheels.
I'm still debating about tire size.
I'm considering a couple different brands...but thats not my question.
For the sake of argument....lets assume ITP Mudlite XL's...
I'm going one of 2 ways...
Front...28x10x12 Rear...28x12x12
or
27x12x12 on all 4 corners.
Interested in opinions.

What kind of riding do you mostly get into?
12's on the fronts will be better if you play in the water, but the 10's will help through mud better.
12's on all four corners for better flotation in water and better traction in mud. Skinnies up front for better steering capabilities and less stress on stuff but in 4x4 it will dig more than with the wides up front. If you do alot of mud and water riding then you will not regret going with 12's on all four corners. I had 28x12 Mud Bugs on all four corners on my old Rincon and that bike was bad ass in the mud. You'd be surprised what an extra 4" of rubber up front will do. Just my opinions on the matter.

yeah...I guess a little "how I ride" info would be helpful.
I'd say probably...
50% trail riding
35% mud
15% water
In that case I'd go with the 28x10's and 28x12's.

I have 28" mudlites 10" on front and 12" on back. On my other rincon I have 30" mudlites 10"front and back, This has worked very well rideing in mud and water here in michigan, I do cheat running about 20psi. I ride hard alittle jumping, alot of mud and water, clime over logs ect. my 30" run circles around my 28".

i also have mudlites, 28-10-12 fronts. 28-12-12 rears. great for turning in tight trails, pretty good in the mud and water, average in sand( but nothing is good there) . i think 12's in front would be tough on the trails as far as handling, steering.

Ok...so the general consensus is to go with the 28" tires...which is kind of the way I was heading anyway.
Now...
pros/cons...
ITP Mudlite XL's VS. Maxxis Mudbugs
Personally I would get Mud Bugs. They will do better in the mud and ride just as good as Mud Lites. I think the Mud Lites will do better in sand if you do any sand riding at all. Mud Bugs will paddle through the mud better than Mud Lites which tend to dig due to the tread design. Just my opinions.

i know, and ride with a lot of people who have the mudlites.... myself included. there has to be a reason for that. you will like the way they perform. im thinking about going to 30's myself.

I read in another thread that the 28" Mudbugs only measure 27" tall.
Is this true?
What about the Mudlites?
I really want a taller than 27" tall tire...so if the 28" Mudlites are actually 28" tall and the Mudbugs run short...I may decide to buy the Mudlites instead of the 'Bugs.

I would go with 10" on the fronts.
My 26" mudlits ran about 1/2 to 5/8" short.
MST run true to size as do Mud Machines. I dot know what others do.
I think swamp lits are close to size as well. & the 28" SL's have something like 1.5" deep lugs.

Yeah...I've narrowed it down to either Mudlites or Mudbugs in 28x10x12 front and 29x12x12 rear.
I just don't want to spend the money for the 28" Bugs...and have them only be 27" tall.If I'm paying for 28" tires...I want 28" tires.
Then of course...there's always 29.5 Outlaws.lol.(can't afford them or the 30" Mudlites)
I'm went with 11" mudzillas on all 4 corners, taking it out tommorow, I'll let you know my likes/dislikes!
My old Mud Bugs were 28x12's and they only measured 27" tall. I have however heard that they have quit making the 28x12 Mud Bugs though. I think most peoples Mud Bugs measure true to height.

I had 27in lites and the fronts ran almost an inch short. My Bugs are pretty much true to height the 12s are about 1/4in shorter than the 10s which are a tad over 28in tall with 7psi.
