I remember you saying you used to be into racing, I think you said stock cars so I got a bit of a question for you for a buddy at work. He races the smaller cars and his has a GSXR 1100 motor in it. Well he does great in the turns, but its like he has no power in the straightaways. So he pulled out all 4 plugs, and I think he said that the #1, #3 and #4 plugs are all white, but the #2 plug is black and fouled really badly. Any idea what would cause something like this?

thanks buddy.

paul, it's been awhile since I messed with motorcycle engines but I DID use to have a GSXR1100, although those engines are a little over my head, it sounds like to me that his carbs aren't syncronized. That bike has four carbs on it and they all have to be syncronized together, it sounds like three of his carbs are running lean and one is running rich.

The dwarf or legend cars that run around here run those motorcycle engines in them but I've never mesed with any of those cars or engines. Tell him to start at the carbs, that seems the most logical place to start from hearing his problems.

Thanks Lee, I let him read this and he says its all EFI on this motor, so its probably something in there fucking it up I would guess.

Yea, I'm stumped as shit when it comes to EFI machines, I'm an old school guy. My GSXR had carbs on it but it was a 1995 model too. I'de have to rely on someone else's knowledge if it were mine and an EFI. I'm sure since he races these things the other guys he races with probally run the same engines don't they ??? I'de start hitting some of my race buddies up and seeing if they have a computer to hook up to the bike, most of those guys probally have laptops to hook up to the computers on the bikes. Sorry man, wish I could help more.

RD, tell your friend to change plugs and see if that helps. It may be just one bad plug.
