"This is an airbox lid I got from my dealer that is a Pure Polaris factory replacement part. It is compatable with the airbox of any '01-'08 Polaris Sportsman 400-800. It is a factory lid that doesn't come with the rectangular opening where the factory intake piece attaches with screws and a gasket. It instead has a flat square which I modify with a 2" hole, then bolt and glue on a rubber flange that has a 2" coupler end mated to it. I then install a short, smooth 90* elbow fitting into the rubber coupler and fasten with a hoseclamp. From there, you can glue in PVC/ABS pipe and route your snorkel to your desired location. This gives you a true 2" snorkel and eliminates the difficulty of coupling the rectangular factory intake piece to round tubing. It also eliminates the need to drill a hole into the airbox itself to serve as the main intake source or, the necessity to run twin intake pieces to achieve the amount of air necessary to supply the engine.
I am posting to see if there would be enough interest of purchasing one of these lids, complete with snorkel attachment, to make it worth my time to put a few together for sale."

Would this be my answer to having to run dual snorkels to get me enough air for my carb?

KSCFIRE, this should be the answer. I will let you know as soon as all the testing is complete. I am done testing for the 500 and 700. Waiting to test on the 800. I will announce a price as soon as I am done testing.

Hey buddy, could this then be "T'd" off to 2 smaller hoses like 1-1/2" hoses and brought up to the front racks? Have you tried to fit it onto an 04 model 500 to see if it even fits? If this is all good, i may just take one off your hands as well.
Are you starting to market these lids?

Yes, it could easily be "T'd" by simply glueing in a T fitting and then reduce them down to 1.5". I don't think there is a difference in the frame and airbox layout between the 04-08 models. I know the airbox is the same, therefore the lid is a simple swap. When i'm done with all testing, and if everything works out, you'll be first on the list to get one. You're a preferred customer!! ;)

When you say testing do you mean possible jetting changes, etc? I'll be tuning in later for the results and maybe an order too.

The best thing you could ever do is try to bring your friends here to help make this place grow to be a monster of a board.
As for the other site, i will say this, I personally met Scott Smith, and his dad, and lots of his staff and they were all great people, really really great people so i dont really understand all the bad blood here. I kinda think maybe I stepped on a certain Admins toes over there when I openly asked why all the posts were getting deleted so maybe thats the problem. As for Scott, I hope he is still the same good guy I met in Texas but I have not talked to him since then so who knows, hell he may be so busy with business and arena bog events and the Polaris joint venture that he has no idea whats going on with his Admins or mods on his site. Think about it, i used to promote all kinds of stuff they sell, now that they pretty much black balled me, why the hell would I bother anymore, theres plenty of other aftermarket suppliers out there that could use a good bump on there products that dont treat people like that so they will get customers based on my referals when I can help send someone in the right direction for parts and stuff like that.
Believe me, if I had Scott's e-mail, i would gladly e-mail him, he can find mine pretty easily and I'd be happy to talk with him, but when I did call there the one day, he was not in the office.....

500 and 700 carb testing is complete! Sucess! I ran a modified version of a "nut-buster" snorkel of the airbox lid, all 2". It ran flawlessly through the Mud-a-Cross track and the Mud Bog pit at Mud Creek this weekend. It actually flowed slightly more air than my dual 1.5" hoses did, so I had to slightly richen the mixture to compensate. The Polaris 700 test went flawlessly as well. He is running a Dynojet kit, UNI filter, '06 Sportsman 800 stock intake tube, and an Aaeen exhaust. With the airbox lid/snorkel swapped in place of the stock lid w/Sp800 intake tube, there was no noticable change in flow throughout the power range and no carb adjustments were needed. Also, the angle i'm running on the snorkels puts them about 1.5" off of the speedo on the pod. I didn't even notice it was there and will likely leave it that way on my bike. A small section of the seat pan on both bikes had to be trimmed. More on the 500's b/c of the position of the airbox being farther back than that of the 600, 700 & 800. I'll try to keep yall posted and get back with yall quickly. Sorry for lagging behind on this project. Having to pull the motor on my bike and getting ready for my wedding in November put a strain on my time.
