Well tomorrows the big day

have to go in for Thyroid Surgery

Having the complete thing taken out(due to past history with cancer and treatments)....

Appointment sceduled for 10:00......will be kept in for a few days to monitor my levels and hopefully back for weekend.....to have brewski(man am I hoping)....

I should be back on my feet soon to be atv'ing again....

Went on Friday(past)....with Ramit.....awesome run.....thanx Greg for being a great host.....

5 points run.....definately in the top 3 in my books.....

For anyone that dont know much about Dano, hes a pretty hard core kinda guy, he did a pretty crazy trek across part of Ontario in what, a week or something like that. I'm sure he can fill you in on the details a LOT better than I can.

Anyways, good luck dude, you will be in my thoughts buddy, and if you are "ride ready" by the labor day weekend, let me know okay, I may have somthing to tell you ;)

I had thyroid surgery in 93. They removed the right side due to a goiter, but cut enough to check out the left side also. It was fine. I take Synthroid daily .05mg for the rest of my life. Also have blood work done yearly. A three day hospital stay, with a raspy voice for several weeks after. Virtually no visible scar, Doc did the cut at my neck crease.

Talk about a runaround....

10 was resceduled for 12:45.....then last minute......surgery cancelled due to emergency at OGH(guess surgery room was needed).....and rescheduled for Sept 19th...

best part I still get to atv for a bit woohoo....

Definately bmdjmd.....and rubberdown definately gonna get out for a run......

WELL FOLKS.....today's the day.....of the rescheduled.....admittance 10:25.....surgery at 12....should be back home...hopefully Sat....

Update......will be in untilat least Mon.....still monitoring some stuff and doc doesn't want to release me until its resolved or at least stabalized......

......and finally my calcium levels are starting to rise(3 days later)........just saw my surgeon and he says I free to be released....just have to take it slow and easy until I heal

Great Great news today.....

1. They sent my thyroid to Mount Sinia...in Toronto and it came back as totally beneign....thank god....

2. Doc says I am doing awesome and should be back on my feet soon fully recovered..

3. Looking better and better each day

4. Had appointment with Hemotologist and she says looks great for at least 6 more months...awesome.....

5. Last but not least I get to bug the crap out of wife for at least two more weeks.....hehehe....she will be begging me to go to work for sure...

Great to hear that Dan..............How is your voice doing and how well is the scar healing up?

I had blood test at 6 month intervals and then it went to yearly.

the scar is healing up good....sometimes still difficult to swallow......voice is back(wife groans at that)....lol....but seems to be coming along great.....man what a relief to find out the thyroid was clear....
