View Full Version : Got my new Snorks ready....

I got the stacks for everything but I dont have the air box done up to them yet, so far just the intake and exhaust for the clutch. I need a new breather box lid to do the air box yet.

As a note to anyone wishing to do this style of stacks, remember one very important thing, the rubber couplings are pretty thick, I made this thing with under a 1/4" between the stacks which is why they are staggered at the bottom, otherwise I cant get both rubber couplings on.

I'll try to get out to a watering hole near the house tomorrow to test them out and see if they leak. I'm also worried about the tires rubbing them under heavy loads with the way they are routed, any input on that would be great.????

ya, the bars clear, that was a concern of mine, it would suck pretty bad if they didnt eh LOL.
Do you guys think I should be okay under the front fenders like that? I guess I will know today, I'm going for a little ride later to try them out.

Lee, I wish I had the time before Friday cuz I really want the sum bitch up top now.

Eric, those hoses will be brown pretty fast with mud so I aint too worried about it LOL...well maybe a little bit.

out a piece of foam or something on top of the tire. maybe 1-2" thick. get on the front bumper and jump on that thing like you did with your first girlfriend. if the foam has a mark, look where it hit. if it dont your good.

but its better sex appeal when you paint them. gives more style points.

So they leak, my belt got pretty wet and I was only in the water for a couple of minutes. They might look good, but thats about it, heres all 4 connections and a couple pics where I tested them.

Is this the same kind of hose you guys are using????

dont worry, mine held water in better than it held it out at first.

and yes, thats the same hose i used on mine.

most likely its in the connections. but you have to realize that it could only be 1 spot leaking. thats all it takes.

do this, go outside, get the hose pipe and shove it down the snorkle pipe. start out with the water on low and sit where its quiet and listen and watch for a leak. my guess is it will be the housing gasket.

go do that and see where the water comes from first. fix that hole and check again. its just your belt so it wont hurt it to get wet.

Plus your clutches needed cleaning anyways. That's the same hose I use too. But damn it looks good coming up out the water with the chrome stacks.

Seriously Eric, I can just fill it with water???? what if I used compressed air in a low setting, and just plugged one tube and put the air into the other tube with a rag smothering the hole too???? Or would the water be safer????

Damit, I hate a leak....

On the bright side, my stock air box lid didnt leak with only the stock rubber gasket. I WAS going to silicone it but I guess I wont need to now.....

Also, what type of silicon do you guys use?

funny thing is that the old set-up with the thinner cheaper sump pump hose did NOT leak, but I switched to this because it is so much thicker....

Paul, yea seriously, you can just fill it with water from the garden hose, that's exactly how I tested mine. Fill it from the exhaust hole and lay under the bike with a flashlight and you'll see exactly where it's coming from IF it's the cover. I only use the stock air box lid gasket on both my bike AND the wife's bike and I've never had a problem with either one leaking.
