Well we had to put down our family dog last night. My three daughters were devastated. It was one of the toughest things we had to do. He was our gaurd dog and protector of our children. I think burying relatives was easier.
He'll be missed badly.

 Awwwwww, that is so sad badmanners, I'm really sorry to hear that. He was a beautiful dog. What was his name ?? I'm definitely not looking forward to the day I have to do that to my chocolate lab and it aint't but a few years away, IF I'm lucky, he's getting on up there in age. Be sure to give your daughters some hugs when you get home tonight, I'm sure they'll need em. Just tell them to try and remember that he will cross the Rainbow Bridge into doggie heaven and he'll get to run & play like he is a pupp all over again.

Thanks all. He was a pure bred Belgian Sheep dog. His name was Rebel and he was not quite 10 years old. Geez I'm tearin' up again...This all happened in the last 2 weeks. The vet doesn't know why unless we payed another $1000 on top of the $800 we already spent. Just to rich for my blood and no promises for results.

Sorry to hear that buddy. I know what you are going through, we put Zeus down about 2 years ago, he was my 135 pound rotti and what a personality he had. I cried like a little baby when we took him.
We also didnt rush into a new dog, we still had Cleo our older girl (now 13), but now we also have Bella our new Cane Corso and i tell you what, she is sooooo much like Zeus its actually quite funny, she does a lot of the things he used to do, its like its the same soul in a different dog.

Thanks Paul. It's just been tough on the kids mostly. You just get so damned attatched to them. He was my buddy I talked to in the shop. With all the women in my house I just needed another male around...I'm gunna' miss him chasing the ATV around...

lol, funny you should say that i was pretty upset when we put our german shepard down. i was 12 at the time, and she was 12, we had been together from day one, she was such a good dog, i still miss her actually.
