I must be stupid for not already knowing this or understanding it, but can someone please explain to me the wheel offsets and what they all mean? maybe it will help more than just me, thanks.

example 1) 5+2 you start on the inside. so the center plate would be 5" in and the would be 2" left on the outside.

example 2) 4+3 center plate would be 4" in and there would be 3" of rim on the outside of the center plate.

example 3) 2+5 used on straight axle machine two inches of rim to the inside and five (Deep dish) to the outside of the centerplate.

Does that help or make it worse.

so example #2 would be better than example #1 to clear the tie rod ends on the front of a sportsman because it would have the tires stick out 1 more inch than example #1????

Yes. Most aftermarket wheels for polaris are 4+3 some are available in 3+4 but not many. 3+4 being off set more to the outside of the machine
