Where exactly is the speedometer sensor located?? I was out yesterday riding around the yard and I noticed my speedo stopped working. It was working the day before but quit on me yesterday.I noticed that when I turn the key on the needle will come up to the 0-MPH mark but when the machine rolls it doesnt move.

On mine it was on the right front hub. Took about 15 minutes to replace. Biggest problem was running the wire to the pod.

Ok thanks.I see a wire that runs along side the brake line on that side and I wasnt sure if that was the wire for the speedo or not.I think when I put the front end back togehter I may have gotten the wire pinched when tightening the the clip that holds the brakeline and the wire back on the strut tower.I'll have to have look when I get home and play with it.

yeah, it's a hall sensor that reads how often the holes in the brake disc go by. As you saw, it's mounted in the brake caliper mounting plate.

So if it's not the wire being pinched then the sensor is bad and need to be replaced. Thanks for the info guys,i'll be looking into it this afternoon.

It's pretty easy to replace if you have to.

I was just looking up the price of the speed sensor on babbits.com and they are $45.31 each. If my sensor is bad i'll be going without the speedo needle working for a little while, everything else on the pod is working.

If yours is like mine, the AWD wont work without the speedo. When I replaced mine it was like $51. Oh, and they just quit working one day, no warning. Thats what happened to me.

also if the sensor isn't working which makes the speedo not work, the odometer and trip meter wont work either.

I just looked it up at my local dealer they want $54.59 so the babbits price is pretty good then.Funny thing is yesterday when riding around I had the AWD on for a few when I was testing the front suspention on a big lime rock in my yard,it was after I took it out of AWD that I noticed the speedo wasnt working anymore, later in the afternoon I rode around some and I turned the AWD switch on and it showed it was on at the pod but I dont know if the front wheels were engaging or not.If my sensor is fried and the AWD wont work without the speedo then i'll have to get it form babbits.com.

It must be the sensor then because the odometer and trip meter are not working.

When I get home in a bit i'll take a good look at things and then order the sensor from babbits unless someone know of anywhere cheaper.I cant be without AWD for long.

Here is what I found.

The speedo wire that leads to the sensor became picnhed in the strut tower and it looks like it did damage to the wire. The black insulation around the wire looks like it has been compromised.I still dont know if the sensor is bad but the wire is damaged and I dont think it's sending the speed sensor reading back to the pod.

Here's my question-Will it be in my best interest to replace whole wire?? or is the damaged fixable?? I almost want to cut it and splice back together but I dont know if that was a very good idea or not. What do yall think??

If I was you, I'd solder the wires and see if that fixed it. The sensor comes with the wires. I dont think you can get one without. Its all one unit.

Thats another thing I LOVE about this site. On another "lesser quality" site, when I asked about cheaper parts for my popo, I was thrown to the wolves. I couldnt believe I was flamed for that. SOB's:noidea:

I hear you on that.Thats why I do all my posting on this forum.I felt a few of the other forums I joined were a little bit to advanced for me to be posting on.I read those forums but dont like to post for the reason you said.

I may just be asking you how you did that if I have to use the new one I ordered. What was hard about running the wire into the pod??

Not being funny, but, my big ass arms. I finally had to drop a string(para cord) down from the pod and tie the end of the harness and pull it back up. Make sure and run it so it wont get pinched again. I had to do mine a couple of times to keep it away from pinch points.

I hear ya on the other sites. Its like if ya dont have 10k posts, you dont matter.
