Well as ya'll know I have a 01' Chevy Silverado Z-71 and have owned a Jeep Wrangler YJ. Well I sold the Jeep and now i'm missing it a little bit. My brother who owns a lifted 2500 GMC 4x4 is looking into selling his truck for a Jeep Wrangler TJ. My question is should I keep the Z-71 or should I sell it and pick up a Jeep TJ? Both will be paid off. I was just curious to what ya'll think. I'm not 100% sure on a decision, but my brother now has me thinking since he's most likely selling his for a Jeep Wrangler. Any comments or suggestions are welcomed.

I've had lifted Jeeps before, and I've found that they look great, wheel ok, and ride like a 3 legged camel. I don't miss any of them at all. In my opinion that Chevy of yours has got something a big Jeep can never have, a little touch of class. I'd hang on to truck.

Well my .02 cents, I am a truck man and always will be, but if I could I would love to have BOTH! A truck to cruise around in with the family and take to shows, and then build a jeep to off road in. I've seen the pics of your truck and it looks to good to start over with a jeep! My opinion!

My 2 cents, depends what you use it for, a bag of groceries will fill up a jeep! I'm a pick up guy, need the box for stuff! LOL

I agree with birddog. Find you a cj7 for off road and short trips, keep the truck for pulling the quad and jeep to ridding area.

Thanks for the comments! I guess i'll just hang onto the truck and see if I can find a YJ or XJ to mod up.

I currntly drive a 2000 lifted f250 and a fullsize 1980 jeep chief I found rust free in Texas.
Both the truck and the jeep are bad mammajamma's offroad..... But the best 4x4 I've ever had was a toyota. Stock locking diffs and the best weight over axle ratio ever. I hate to tug a trailer everywhere so I would keep a truck on hand.

I am a huge Jeep fan.
I have owned and built tons of Jeeps. They are my favorite vehicle and have been my hobby for years. I have owned almost one of every model built up to a TJ. Honestly though they make a better toy than anything else. They are a blast to drive and are the most superior vehicle offroad with the right modifications.
I drive a 1998 Dodge 2500 Diesel Quad cab now because it has room for everything I need to take along, can pull anything else I want, and gets 23mpg with 35" tires.

My favorite vehicle though is a Jeep Willys truck. Here's a couple "Jeep trucks" I built.

Heres a few other Jeeps I built

I have gotten out of building Jeeps over the past 2 years because it is so expensive to build them the way I like and also the amount of trail closures in Alberta makes believe that offroading in anything bigger than quads is going to come to an end. I do plan on building myself one last Jeep. Either another Willys truck or a Willys wagon on 35" tires with a 4cylinder cummins diesel, built to be a daily driver more so than a toy. I have my RZR now for offroad fun and I love it.

Really your choice of vehicle just comes down to your own personal preference. Can you get away with the limited towing capacity and interior room of a TJ? If so, I don't think there's anything more fun than driving a Jeep. But if you need the cargo capabilities of a truck, then you don't have much choice. I wish the vehicle manufactures would listen to the public more. I think a convertable Jeep with a 5' box and a Diesel V6 would sell very well.

first of all i own both a gmc truck and a jeep tj. im happy with both, use the truck to haul my toys and load heavy stuff in the box, jeep can tow the trailer with the toys or heavy stuff. Jeep is cheaper on fuel however, jeep wont haul a load like the truck can. Im quite happy with both as they are both very handy to my needs. truck is 2011 gmc sierra base truck 2wd with towing package, jeep is 1998 jeep tj 2.5l 4x4.

Everyone and there brother owns a Z-71 as well but the jeep won't get high centered trying to drive over an empty shoe box. I love my truck but I also really liked the 2000 Jeep Grand Chreokee Larado I had. I know it's not the same kind of jeep but none the less I liked it. Some day I will do a CJ or a TJ or an XJ or an........

Digging up an oldie! I would love a jeep someday, but i couldn't do a yj, too short and no room. I had a military jeep in here a few months back, and it had about a foot longer wheelbase than a yj. Thats what i want to find. Or a scrambler.

I have the best of both worlds...Wife drives a Sahara Unlimited 4 dr and we also have a 3500 Dodge, im not sure which i like more really, the jeep kick a$$ in all conditions and the truck pulls all my toys, can't imagine having to choose, i think that would be way to tough of a choice!

i wish daily i never got rid of my old gmc... would of been a sweet ride if done up right!! yet frame was gone and everything on the old truck yet the drive terrain was sound and great running... I have the 2011 and the jeep and looking at maybe getting the old 1985 chevy custom as its in good shape but needs repairs...

Thats an easy one bro, U definately need something to haul the toys with. Heck if need be, U can always get out and kick some azz yourself. Lmao. C, no need for a jeep. hahaha
