Not much activity in the Kitty forum, so thought I would post the transformation of my son's 08 650 H1 from stock to a full blown mud machine.
This is a work in progress. It has 2 miles on it as I began the work today.
Nice N shiney

The strip down begins, looking for stuff to throw away or change. High on the list is to put that mud catchin radiator on the rack where it belongs
http://inlinethumb08.webshots.com/40583/2026416710100152096S600x600Q85.jpg
Stock intake snorkels are much improved over previous models, but not good enough in the muddin bussiness
http://inlinethumb22.webshots.com/42773/2463147930100152096S600x600Q85.jpg
Much better, now I can see what needs to be done, dielectric grease all connections, get a mental list of stuff needed to snorkel everything
http://inlinethumb35.webshots.com/32482/2567540630100152096S600x600Q85.jpg
Hmm, gotta make room for a set of these

You may be surprised. It all depends on how much racing he'll be doing. I personaly don't trail ride my race bike much at all, but I would not hesitate to becuse of the wheels. There are several people that do it all the time.
Look for a write up soon, on this very subject in Mudders Mag.

I guess never being around the crushloks makes me hesitate, and this is not a race bike. Will watch for the Mudders Mag article, I do subscribe.

Polaris does that as well with their non-turf mode machines.

Just odd they put it a one wheel rather than on shaft seem's like it would be more stopping power close to pumpkin. Don't know I'm just thinkin out loud thought may learn something new on this subject

Just curious to see how that bike will turn 31's. Since it's not going to be a race bike (which stays in water bogs 90% of the time) I'm sure he will be getting into some thick nasty mud.
My friend has a 650 V2 (650 Brute motor) and 28" Silverbacks are about all that bike can handle without burning the belt or bogging down.

Traded a 04 V2 in on this one, and we fought it from day one smoking the belt with 29.5's
The H1 is supposed to have better gearing and a lot more low end torque, time will tell!!!! (tried to get him to buy a Brute)
