Synthetic winch rope maintence?

What are you guys doing to take care of your synthetic ropes? Mine got nasty with mud yesterday. I was going to spool it out and toss it in a bucket of soapy water for a little bit then run it through a towel as I wind it back up. Does that sound about right to you guys? Any suggestions?

I just hose it off on the spool when I clean the machine. I did have most of it laying out in the driveway once for a good spray down, but thats about it.

Just make sure it is dry before you spool it up. It can get moldy.
