Oh for sure buddy

69 SS
mostly stock body
glastek hood and bumpers
plexi rear window
back halfed
4 link
4.30 gears
merlin Big M block
555ci, brodix xtra 2 heads
1050 dominator
15:1 compression
shaft rockers
MSD pro billet
turbo 400
no trans brake
Moser rear end

Engine was put on a dyno when it was new, put out 943 hp, never was told the torque #

Um, i dont know a whole lot about the car really.
We bought it back in 91' with the original 396 with the 4 speed.
Use to be a light/sky blue with 2 silver racing stripes.
I need to get a couple pictures scanned of it back in the day back when it first got backhalfed.

car still has the original dash, floor, door panels, manual windows and locks, trunk lid. The drivers rear quarter panel was replaced sometime in its life.

Its getting the cage finished in it this winter, it will also be getting NHRA certified. This past racing season i wasnt allowed to run faster then a 6.40, due to the car not having a full cage, the chassis not being certified, and me not being certified. So we had to take out some timing in the motor, car would leave the line with both wheels in the air every time with the 555. We use to run a 477 that had around 600 hp. We dont run bottle, no power adders at all. N/A.

Its my Dad's car. But we both work on it and i drive it.

ive got a few videos of it with the tired 477.

Here are a few pictures-

I slept at the tree and lost. And that was a Z28 camaro, driven by a 22 year old women. Car only had an intake and that was it. But i slept at the tree.

If you listen closely, you can hear the car studder when it launches.
Why was it doing that?- The bowl on the back of the carb, when the car would take off, the fuel when would be forced to the back of the bowl. Well the jets are are the front of the bowl. We added jet extensions after that weekend, solved the problem.

Nice cars guys, I used to have a 67 Camero, didnt have it too long, only drove it for about 10 days, then it sat and sat and sat till I sold it. It was a nice car, lots of motor stuff done to it, chrome and stuff, but I kinda messed it up punching the gas all the time, I think it was the valves or lifter rods or something I bent on it...it was a long LONG time ago.

Too bad about the Camaro Paul, but you did the right thing. I wish i had stopped playing with my malibu when i blew up the first little 350 i built for it. It is never ending. Just get something done then it is on to bigger and better. Then you decide it is too fast to play with everyday so you buy another car and start all over again. Damn cars.

Wow Camo thats a beautiful TA it's nice to see that screamin bright red rather than the typical Smokey and the Bandit black/gold combo, did it have a 400?

Hey Mudwild, nice Chevelle. I noticed you don't run a trans-brake, how come? I could see if it were stock suspension I know the A-bodies like that hard left hook when they launch but yours beeing back-halfed would make great use of a t-brake. My 60 foot times will slow by a half second and the ET will slow by 8 tenths if I try and foot brake my truck instead of using the t-brake out of the hole. I'm only stalling at 3200 though, I assume your stalling in the 5500 range?

Camo500EFI

That one had the 301 and it was a ws6. I had a 79 black and gold bandit addition also but I put all my time into the 80.

My stall is only at 3k right now.
The torque converter i currently run was for a 477 with around 600hp.
I moved to a 555 motor, havent got a new converter made yet.
Dont run a Tbrake because i just dont need to.
I hold the car on the foot brake at around 2800 and launch from there.
Car does like to leave with the drivers side higher then the passenger side.
Im going to add in more pre-load and colm it down a bit more and get more of the passenger tire up.

Just wait, i'll have some new pictures of it launching off the line at 2800 and with the pre-load.

The pics ive posted of the car are all with the 477 besides 1 picture.
And that picture is the first picture in post #8.
My Dad was driving, that was the first pass on the 555 motor.
Keep in mind i havent been able to run the motor all out since i wasnt allowed to go faster then a 6.40.
We had to take timing out of the motor to slow it down.
Why did i have to run 6.40 or slower? Didnt have a full cage.
Im dropping the car off at Rich Gebhardt's chassis shop is Jacksonville Illinois next Friday to get the cage finished.

Stoked for racing season.
its only a few weeks away boys. :bolt:

We've had those same Weld wheels on the Chevelle ever since it got backhalfed.
Been quite some time.
We've got 2 sets of rears and 1 set of fronts.

I would like to pick up a full set of some Center Line's.
Rev's or Convo Pro's

stricker76-That's cool about your brothers car, as long as it isn't rotting away...Sort of the same story with mine when I bought it, it hadn't seen the light of day for over 10 years then the guy needed his garage for something and he parked it beside his house, so me being a pedal biking teenager at that time, saw it that same day, so I stopped and asked him if he'd sell it to me he said not a chance but to someone older he would...So I went back with my dad that night, struck a deal for $1000, cost me $1000 to certify it, drove it stock all through high school, stored it during the winters, then after I graduated I built the first engine for it, still on that same engine just many, many, many different parts than what I started with...my best track time so far was 7.91seconds in the 1/8 Mile. I now really just want to put in a LSX engine and use it as a cruiser again since I'm really into the ATV thing right now.

Mud Wild- Yeah most of the guys at the track run the Weld Pro Stars I'd like to put on the American Racing Torq Thrust II's someday...

Nice Monte and GN. Those 80's A bodies make great bracket cars... great wheelie machines too.

they were actually called G-bodies. The A-bodies were the late 60's, early 70's Chrysler/Dodge cars.

G-Bodies lasted from 78-87 + the 88 Monte. GM started front wheel drive cars in 88. Cant remember exactly how it "played" out but some rear wheel drive Monte's were "late" to production or held up at some point. they got titled 88 year models.

Whats interesting about that is, some 87 Buick GNX's were built after the 88 Monte Carlo!

Chevy A-body were 64-77. Technically the 78-81 Regal malibu cutlass and lemans were still using the a-body name, until Gm release the FWD a-body in 82, and then changed them over to G-body.

It looks as if we are both correct, LOL!

I never knew GM called some of their cars A-bodies, and I wasn't exactly sure which cars Chrysler called A-bodies. I was pretty sure it was from the late 60's and early 70's era.

Here is a link to a forum with some designation to which of those cars were classified as "A-body". I learned something new today.

Yup, I forgot they made that change to the G designation in the late 70s.
