Allright, here is my dilema. I have a 2.5" Rubberdown lift kit sitting in the garage. I run mostly trails with about 10-20 percent mud and water. I have a set of 25" Bighorns I run most of the time and just got a set of 27" Outlaws to run on occasion. I need the extra ground clearance the lift provides for climbing rocks with the BH's and going through the mud with the Outlaws.

My question is, can I run the lift without sacrificing the ride quality on the trails with the smaller tires? I know I'll be more top heavy, but how bad will it be? I'd hate to take the lift off everytime I run the Bighorns.

BTW, running the Outlaws is out of the question because we do alot of goat trails with big rocks and steep hill climbs.

Thanks for the help guys.

I got the 2 inch lift on my Outty... I got 25" Horns also... And run the 27" 589's... I also got the HD springs on the front... Mine IS a different bike, but I do NOT take the lift off... Other than the HD springs, the lift on mine did not seem to hurt the handling or riding comfort at ALL... The springs, they seemed to stiffen up the ride a bit, but is a GOOD thing on these can-am's.... And people think the popo's SAG in the front!!!!!!
I wouldn't take the lift off of mine for anything in the world........ Other than a BIGGER lift!!! LOL

I have the RD lift on my '08 Rinny. The ride is great! I run 27" Bighorns and 28" Zillas. The Zillas are rough at low speeds, but the horns are a smooth ride. I wouldn't put lifter springs on if you run the RD lift though, it will put the axles under alot of strain.

lol yeah, the lift AND lift springs would prolly not be too good of an idea....
mine are just the heavy duty springs from BRP.... just much stiffer than the factory....

Mattdtru has the RD lift on his and rode with stock tires for a bit and now has the 27's I think... He likes his either way.......

Joey I've seen where and how you ride and knowing that I would leave the lift off. Even though it will help you out in the mud with the laws you don't ride enough pure mud to run the lift. It will hurt your trail riding alot. The rear lift seems to be fine but the front will give you a bigger sense of tippiness that you don't need climbing hills and rocks like you do.
I would never recommend a lift for one of my friends for a Rincon if they don't ride at least 75% mud. Even then it's not a good idea if you ride some of the trails that you ride. That being said, I love my lift but if I rode on ground that wasn't very flat I would either use something shorter on the front (sigh....spacers) and the RD lift for the rear.

Maybe RD should make an intermediate lift for the 1/2 and 1/2 guys for the Rincon. A 1 in lift for the front and the 2 1/2 on the rear would sit pretty level with you on it and should handle real close to stock.

hmmmmmmm....... maybe I need to try something like that?

Thanks guys. Andy, that's a great idea for the front. I'm gonna talk to my machinist buddy and see if he can make me some.

Thanks again for the replies.

My shorter front lift should be on around the middle of next month. I have been having problems popping tie rod ends so I've worked something out with a front lift that will be about 3/8in shorter than the RD lift. I am staying with the RD lift on the rear since the Rincon squats a bit anyway. Maybe it will work out fine if not I will go back to the full RD lift.
