Well I'm getting to the point where I wanna put a lift in. I am without a doubt going to get it from rubberdown. I have an 06 700 efi sportsman with 27x9x12 swampfoxes on the front and 27x12x12's on the rear. Now the thing I would like to know is if i get the 2", do I have to upgrade my axles??? Then if not, same question for the 3"? Pretty much I wanna know with either sizes, can I just install them and that's it.....or is there more that need's to be done????
Thanks in advance!!

you shouldn't have to upgrade the axles. i have been running my lift for over a year and i have only busted 1 cv which my fault cause i should have let off the throttle.

up to the 2" you should be fine with the stock axles, if you go with the 3", you will likely break them a lot sooner. A few guys on here are running the 3", one of them ran stockers for quite a while and I dont think he ever actually broke a CV joint. The others are running gorilla's

in my opinion the tires will have more effect on the axles breaking than the lift.

Them 29.5 laws snap them stock axles like toothpicks. If I was running a tire over 27" them I'd upgrade the axles but right now my with 26" tires I think I'm safe...for now.

I agree, it's usually traction that takes out the axle. I've been "rubberdowned" for a while now and don't think twice about going w.f.o. with the bars turned hard, but I'm still running the stock pxt's. I wouldn't try it with a set of Laws or Zillas.

pretty much got it ive got my ITP 589s that are 27s they are by no means 29.5s and ive already snapped one CV, note to self, when 3 tires spin and one grabs..... just give up and quit reaming on it

nahh.
thats when you give it more gas because now youve got traction.
j/k.
anybody whos watched me ride knows i will hit any deep mud hole there is. ive never back out anything because i thought it was too deep or too bad.
but when i go through it, its at 1800 rpm sitting back waving at the crowd. i dont see the reason to be doing 9k rpms in a mud hole. the only thing you get accomplished is getting yourself covered in mud.
to me making it through a hole going slower and without bumping the rev limiter is more impressive than doing it at 60 mph with the throttle WFO.
