I've been on a slack desk job for 5 years now and haven't been in the gym for about 13!
I finally had enough and got back into a routine. So far I have dropped 26lbs and have added about 80lbs to the bar. Been doing lots of sit ups and push up and I got a skipping rope for xmas (not a pink one!) 'cause its too cold to try and jog.
Hopefully I can stay on track....I know I feel alot better and have more energy. My friends are starting to notice as well, which is kinda motivating.

Now, I need some ideas for low calorie drinks. I'm not gonna stop the alcohol!! LOL Rye and diet ginger ale??

LOL, I drink the occasional rye and diet pepsi, or rye and coke zero is pretty good, but diet ginger ale is terrible, cant drink it by itself let alone with boose in it.

Jogging isnt something guys like me and you can do on the roads, or even dirt, at least I cant, I get shin splints and my knees are screwed for days even if I run 1 single kilometer. I CAN however run on a tredmill with good "running" shoes and not have a problem with the knees and shins. I think guys like "us" are too heavy for the constant impact of running on any hard surface.

The pink skipping rope with tassels on the handles will be a good way to get up the heart rate, and tell the wife you need to have more um..."relations" to also get up the heart rate.

26 lbs is a really good start and a good personal motivator buddy, keep at it ;)

pink skipping rope with tassels
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t253/hampster_rancher/smileys/mad0248.gif It does NOT have tassles!! LOL

I have trouble with my knees jogging as well. Thought I'd try the rope. 5 mins on the rope is suposed to burn as many calories as jogging 1 mile and its a full body kinda work out.

So the rye is gonna be OK, whew, good!

Rum and diet pepsi. I lost 15 lbs before christmas while still drinking heavily, but put it back on over christmas. Hope to get back into a routine in the new year as well and drop another 40 or so.

Good job sticking it out. I go back in tomorrow after two weeks off of good eating and drinking in Florida.

ya i think its time to work a couple pounds off my self , or maybe add a couple pounds of muscle , its just so hard to get motivated after working outside all day . the sun and the fact that im laying brick all day dont seem to help me none.

Here's one for you............. I went and worked out yesterday and it was the first time back in the gym in just over a week and I jumped on the scale like I do after every workout and I was down 5 pounds. Thats what the boat shows do to me with all the drinking and not working out. It's gonna take me two weeks or so to put that weight back on.:frusty:

I didn't quit drinking at all, LOL. Just layed off the beer. I'm switching it up between the rye/diet pop and ceasars. Gotta have variety! LOL

Variety is good. You taking any Supplements?

02-02-2009, 09:06 AM
No, not really. I started lifting weights again at the beginning and was taking protein shakes. I haven't been lifting lately, again, so I stopped taking those, just unwanted calories.
I tryed Hydroxycut....wow! You want a buzz, take 6 of those a day! I finally gave those up, made my heart race.
Basically, I gave up chips (a big problem for me), bread, rice and anything with raw sugar in it.
I bought this book http://www.eatcleandiet.com/ because I was told it was not a diet but a way to change how you look at food and what you eat. It has a lot of recipes in it and is actually a good read. I dunno, seems to be working for me so far.

Thats good. If it's working for you don't change it. As for a good buzz try NO Xplode that stuff is crazy. I do one scoop of that and a teaspoon of creatine before a workout and I'm good for the day. I can feel it running through my blood right now as I type and the directions call for two scoops before a workout but thats to much for me.

hampster_rancher
02-02-2009, 09:16 AM
So does it help with weight loss or is it and energy boost?? I need the boost, but I need a motivation pill. LOL

Camo500EFI
02-02-2009, 09:20 AM
It helps with the energy as well as a more intense workout (great pump). Bottom lie if you build more muscle you burn more fat. You weight will go up as you do this because muscle weighs more than fat thats what happened when I dropped all that weight not lifting for two weeks.

hampster_rancher
02-02-2009, 09:21 AM
NO Xplode....I'll have to give that a try and try to get back on the plates.
Thanks Ed.

Let me see what Rob has, he owns the gym I "try" to go to. Also, what are you training with at home? I may have something you may be interested in that Brian (my welder) and myself built at the shop, so you know its going to be super heavy duty. It has pretty much everything for almost every exersize.

Hey Ed, I've been doing some reading on this stuff, how long have you been taking it?? Have you experienced any side effects?? Do you take it every day, if not, do you feel down and drained on the days you miss??

There is a lot of possitive stuff being said about it, its just difficult to cut through the BS on some of it, thats the reason for all the ???????

Camo500EFI
02-05-2009, 10:20 AM
I take it every day including my off days. The only side affect I had was when I took two scoops as directed and lets just say pepto couldn't even touch the stomach issues I had but what a pump. I only take one mounded scoop and one mounded teaspoon of straight creatine before my workout and all is good with the digestive system.

Good job Chad!! I was ordered to take a few days off this week after having a wisdom tooth pulled. I'm going nuts!!!

03-04-2009, 07:34 PM
Ouch! I've got 3 that I have to get pulled....I'm just putting it off as long as possible. lol

The beers and the chips (thanks Paul!) didn't help this past weekend. Its amazing how fast you can put the pounds back on when you go back to the old eating habbits. Kinda re-enforces the fact that it is a lifestyle change and not temporary.

For about 7 years now i've been curling alot but its only 12oz at a time, damn bud lights. I found that when I do try to diet and get the urge to drink I'll mix Southern Comfort and Coke Zero or flavored vodka and Sprite Zero. The booze is sweet enough to make up for what the soft drinks are lacking. When I want a beer its usually a Bud Select or Michelob Ultra(not strong enough to get me drunk!).

You will be down to skin and bones by August have to use a rubber strap to keep you on your bike heard the wind gets strong down at Winnrock.
