View Full Version : RD Handle Bar Extensions
I'm thinking of getting a pair of RD's Handle Bar Extensions(Black).Any feedback from anyone that has them installed?? How do you like them?? Did it make steering any easier??
I think I'd also like to switch out the factory handlebar grips.Any suggestions on a brand to consider??

I like this style best ^^^^^^^^^
I take it those are the first generation. Those will look sharp in black.
I got my RD barends yesterday in the mail.I'm going to install them afterwork and will take a few pictures. They look real sweet Anodized in black and I cant wait to get them suckers on.RD was nice enough to send a sticker with the shirts and a nifty bottle opener, the wife swiped the RD bottle opener as soon as she saw it...oh well figures.

I Wanna See What Those Look Like...
I Still Thinking..tapered Or Non-tapered...hmmmmm
I went with these but in black. The non-tapered are the first generation and the tapered are the newer ones.

What are the exact purpose of these?
Here's a quote from RD about the barends.
I have the bar ends, so does the wife, they are great, more leverage when you need it most, and they look great

Thanks Turk.
I getting used to having the extra leverage for turning the handle bars with the barends on.The first few rides I wasnt used to the barends being there so I wasnt grabbing on to them for more leverage when turning but now I'm using them when turning the bike and I like having the extra leveage. Also the barends really work great at keeping my grips from sliding off,my grips used to slide halfway off sometimes before I installed the barends and now they dont budge. So far so good with the Rubberdown barends.

Sounds like a very useful add-on then. How do they install?

Pretty easy. You have to cut out the center of the handle bar grip, just the center part that covers the hollow center of the handle bars ""DO NOT cut the whole end of the grip or it will look really stupid"".Then just slip the barends into the hollow center of the handle bars and tighten the little sqaure head screw on the barend until it's nice and tight and snug.

Ok, thanks for the info. I think I'll just have to invest in a pair.

Will they fit on my Rincon? I would like some if so but might get something custom put on them. Thoughts on this?

I can modify them to fit the Honda's, they have a slightly smaller handle bar I.D. and they have a factory installed threaded insert so they take a different screw, I also have those. the only problem is that if you were to get a set of them for the Honda, the anodized ones I have in stock (Red and Black) wouldnt have anodizing inside the counter sunk hole where the head of the bolt goes.

I'm not exactley sure what that would look like. Could you take a pic of them to show me what you mean?
