Afternoon Boys,
This is an off shoot of the "First car" thread. What is your new toy that you already have or are workin on now??
Here's mine. I'm not done yet and this was in the end of summer, but what the heck...
Been workin on the PU again. It has a few bad (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/hobbles/pickup/PU-3.jpg) spots on it but with the help of the lil Wife (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/hobbles/pickup/pu-6.jpg) it is goin a lot easier. She (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/hobbles/pickup/pu-5.jpg) even enjoys helping. Shes talkin bout makin herself some 60ies dresses for when we go to the loco meets. So far so good. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/hobbles/pickup/pu-7.jpg) .
Some day it will look like it used (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/hobbles/pickup/jw-pu.jpg) to.. This is bout the 6th or 7th time I redid it..
It's geared for the straight open freeways out west. I do have some problems with it back here (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/hobbles/pickup/snow-pu.jpg) sometimes with the back end being so light tho...
Then there was the next weeks.
a (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/hobbles/pickup/pu-9.jpg) b (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/hobbles/pickup/pu-10.jpg) c (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/hobbles/pickup/pu-12.jpg) d (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/hobbles/pickup/pu-11.jpg)
Well, We got the big (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/hobbles/pickup/pu-14.jpg) holes filled and all in all it don't look too bad-a (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/hobbles/pickup/pu-15.jpg) bad-b (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/hobbles/pickup/pu-16.jpg) bad-c (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/hobbles/pickup/pu-13.jpg).
So far, so good (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/hobbles/pickup/pu-a.jpg).

Afternoon froogle
I'm just re-doin it, again. I painted the PU and my horse trailer back in the mid 90ies and it needed it again. I got the front (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/hobbles/pickup/backpu.jpg) of the stake bed done then my atv went south and I got into that for a bit. I'll get-er-done sooner or later. I'm goin to replace all the wood on it.

Heres a pic and a short video of the summer car.

Has a 412 sbc making about 550hp th400 3200 stall 4.11 mini-spool rear. Decided to paint it a few years back so tore it all apart and went a little further than i should have. I'm not real sure what you call old either so here is my not so old project.
1989 Pontiac trans Am GTA. 92,000 miles. Some what stock TPI 350 and 700R4. Every piece of the suspension has been replaced. Sway bars, sway bar bushings and end links. Lowering springs and shocks. A-arm bushings and hardwear. Tierod ends and sleeves. Centerlink. Ball joints. Added the C6 rims and tires. Paint is comming this winter. Full color change. The quad is going to get the same treatment.
This is the day it came home on the trailer from New Hampshire

Nice GTA Underdog!! Love the C6 wheels. What spacers did you need to use to fit them on there? I had a 91 GTA when i was 17 till a UPS truck pulled out in front of me....it came out a little better than the GTA.

Thank's guys. 2.5" spacer out back and a 2" up front.

Looks good Phil, those older F bodies have alot of potential. I've done a few supercharger installs on those back when Vortech and Paxtons were popular before everyone went to turbos. Currie makes bolt in 12 bolts and 9" ford rears for those cars. I'm guessing that's the first thing you'll toss with all the extra tire you got there.

The car is driven by my wife for the most part. With that said, it has been driven about 400 miles in the last year. There will be no major mods to the engine or drivetrain. I would like to throw some gears at it to regain some of the bottom end lost with the 285-35/19's in the rear. It is a 3.27 posi right now and I would like to see it in the 4.10 range. At 60mph in O/D it runs about 1300rpm. Lugs too much when you are just cruising around. If it were my car, it would have the above mentioned supercharger.

Honestly that little Australian 9 bolt in the back of that car isn't worth a gear swap, those things fall apart easily with the stock 245/50/16s. If you'd drive it hard enough to want 4.10s you'll drive it hard enough to crunch the spider gears. Also the TPI motors are really much happier with a taller gear like you already have, it will take alot of work and money to get it to breath past 4700-4800 rpm, it's just the design of the intake and heads. Let the engine make use of it great low end torque and push those tall gears along. If you put a Corvette servo in the tranny it will allow full throttle in OD without a downshift and that thing will push 145-150mph just the way she sits stock. But I'm guessing your wife don't care about any of that anyhow LOL.

Heres an "after" pic of my old GTA. I would love to get another one. Next one will get a LS1 with a 6-speed behind it, but that old TPI had more than enough power for me at 17.

The way it sat stock, it would fall on it's face in the 4200rpm range. Didn't shift till 4500-4600rpm's. The best thing I found so far that has helped that is a set of 1.6 full rollers. Paied $65 for a full set of crane gold full roller self aligning. Couldn't turn them down. I think the 1.6 rockers give you somethig like .035" more lift. Hard to believe that alone gives me that famous TPI pull all the way to 4600 when it shifts. And you are correct, my wife doesn't care about any of it. LOL. All I have left to do besides paint is to rebuild both the head light motors, replace the head light switch, get it aligned. and install a raido.

My dad is a certified diesel mechanic. I was born in a garage, well not quite but it was close. First motor job I did by my self was when I was 10. Still needed help torquing head bolts and such. If you can change your own oil, you can do anything.
