Hey guys this is a repost of a thread I made at ATV Frontier and ATV Nation, it is about my favourtie riding spot in my hometown, thought you guys might enjoy it...Pics are included

Well a few buddies and I decided to make the best of a nice fall day and planned a all day ride up to our favourite local destination, the Grassy River Falls. We packed lunches, GPS, and fishing rods, and headed out at 9am Sunday morning... Here's a little background info on this site-from www.savehighfalls.com right now this site is being considered for and hydro power generation dam, it would be a shame to lose this site. And it's only 20kms from the city center.

In the past this water system has been used by:

Natives for extensive hunting, fishing, and travel from Temagami to James Bay. Early fur traders to transport goods. Prospectors looking for gold. Lumbermen driving wood down to the Timmins market from Peterlong Lake.

Today the area is used by many residents of Timmins and elsewhere for:
walking, cycling, canoeing, kayaking and fishing, ATV route in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter, The Grassy River is part of a well known and well advertised provincial canoe route. It is also using by three local Eco-Tourism businesses that offer tours by canoe and ATV.

It is about a one hour ride up to the falls on a great trail that includes many scenic views from high above the Grassy River, the trail has every type of terrain available in this area such as rocks, sand, mud, hills, water crossings, basically and ATV heaven. This is the fifth time I have ridden this trail this summer. The trail is about 15kms to the falls but the system goes much farther if you have the time to explore. Fromthe top of the first falls to the bottom bay is 1km long.

We got up to the falls and lit a fire at the campsite was nice to have since it was only 7 to 10 degrees celcius, one of us tried fishing but with no luck, the rest of us climbed the rocks and chilled out enjoying the scenery and taking pictures. We had lunch at the campsite and then moved on to Quartz Lake about half an hour from the falls. Awesome riding all along. We checked out lots of side trails that day too and made a full day of riding as we got back to the trucks at 3pm. My brother-in-law and I then decided to do a good deed and pick up a scrap car that has littered the trailhead at this location for many years, we winched it up on the trailer using my Sportsman's winch which handled it with ease surprisingly, the next morning I brought in to the local metal recycler and got $100 for the carcass, not bad for a days ride and an environmental good deed...Can't wait to get back up there again, now we are planning a camping trip for next summer.

Apparently 20+ years ago this trail was drivable by car or truck, I don't see how as it is only as wide as an atv now...Thee is another car about 2kns down the trail looks to be a mid 50's Pontiac 4 door upside down that will be a bit more of a challenge to remove...Next Year. Heres a pic of our loaded trailer...

That area looks beautiful. Nice job on the car removal too. Kinda pays for your gas.
