So I call my local dealer today and get a quote on some 27" Zillas I'm going to buy. He starts looking up the price and says that there was a recent price increase because of the low Canadian dollar. I got quoted at the end of last year at $500 (roughly) out the door, mounted on my current rims. Well he gives me the new price and they are now $576 plus tax. Unbelievable. If anyone knows of a good place to buy tires in Ontario for a reasonable price, let me know.

Here you go Ryan, cheapest place I have found. They'll beat list prices by 20% on most tires. Located in London On.

Tell me about it. Got a price from Royal in January and my 28" zillas were $515.96 plus taxes. Checked last week and now they are $639.96 plus taxes. Prices never went down when our money went the other way, so why the hike now? And the guy at royal told me he expects another increase in the next month or so?? Dollar hasn't moved that much? Enough with my rant.

Of all the places i checked, noone could beat royals price during the tent sale (no taxes). If i was paying the taxes then there were one or two places that were better, but not by enough for me to worry about.

When they have the tent sale, if the item isn't in stock do you still pay no tax if they order it?

April 16-26th. The way they told me is that if it is something they normally stock, but are out of stock then you pay no tax and they will order them for you. Something special order you still pay tax on. Unless it has changed since then?

Update! You thought prices were crazy last week, check this week. My tires that were $639.96 a few weeks ago are now........ $703.80!! Gotta love it! 3.5 months and price goes up by $200! The next set of tires i need, i'm gonna drive down and get them. Everyone says to spend your money locally.....I guess if ya wanna get screwed you might as well get it locally.

Well, looks like alot of places can beat royals prices now, even with the no taxes. I've got prices from a few for $599 and $608 both plus taxes for my set. They beat royal by $100 before taxes, so with royals tent sale they are still cheaper at other places by $20-30. But the kicker for me is that they don't have them in stock, royal does. None of the places i priced are in the sudbury direction though Ryan, so i don't know where to look out that way. I just fire off e-mails to every place i see that sells maxxis.

Thanks for all the help. I'm going to try a set of 26" Swamp lites for $440 taxes in at royals tent sale. I'll let you guys know how they go.

I know. The origional reason i looked at zillas was because they weren't badly priced at $128 a tire. Now i allready have the 14" rims and the zillas are up $50 a tire. And nothing in 14" is reasonable like the zillas were. I was looking at Mud gears, but they don't come any taller than 27" in a 14" rim. And even the swamplites are up to $154.95 from $119.95. Mudlites in a 30x14 went from $159.95 to $219.95. Should just sell my 14" rims and buy some 28x12 mudgears. Oh well, enough with my bitching about prices.

Ya a set of 28" Dirt Devils at Royal were $105 last month & now in the 09 book i just got they are $193 each & to top things off they are replacing them with Mud Gears so the 193 is the CLEARANCE price! WTF

A set of 25" mud lites has gone up $100 on 4
A set of 25" dirt devils has gone up $212 on 4
Up 118 on 25" zillas.

Just wish that there was something we could do to stop crap like thiss

Last year I saw 4 double digit % increases from the distibutors. Ended up to be about 100.00 per set here in the US, so you guys are not alone.

That's funny considering the prices went down from the guy we buy all our tires/wheels from. My 28" Zillas mounted on 14" black 212's was 740.00 shipped to my door. That's mounted with caps and lug nuts. Now he has them for 720.00. Exact same set.

Exactly!! If i end up getting a set of zillas, i'll be picking them up down south!! Probably in August. I can buy a set of 28" zillas mounted on any itp rim on ebay for only $100 more than just the tires cost here.

Well, if your looking to buy tires soon, nows the time. Spring catalogue at royal 28x14 zillas were $175 a tire. Current catalogue they are back down to $128. Looks like i'll be calling to see if they have 30's in stock.

Well, ignore that last post. Prices are still the same as they were in the spring catalogue, now they just don't show them in the catalogue. You have to add that part # to your cart and then you get the real price which is the same as in the spring. Looks like i'll be keeping the mudgears after all.
