When I am riding my 2000 SP 500, it will occasionally blow coolant out of the reservoir cap. There are no visible leaks; it does not run hot, no water in the oil, or oil in the water. The engine runs fine, plenty of power. I have put 100 miles on it since this started other than adding a little coolant, no other issue’s. Could I be looking at a head gasket?
I want my 8 yr old daughter to start riding solo; she rides the 500 with my wife or me as a passenger now. So I was thinking I would trade for a 90 SP. Now this coolant issue.

if there is air in the coolant system it will push coolant out of the overflow even if the bike is not running right. you should start by burping the system.
i think a good bike for you daughter would be the new sportsman 300 or 450. It is small so it would be easy for her to handle. but if you want something big that can have lots of mods done to it and can run big tires i would go with the 500 efi

i believe so. at first we thought my head gasket was bad and the mechanic said just remove the gas tank and anything over the engine. he said it is about a 3 hour job.
