Anyone know why my tilt steering wont tilt back down? Its all the way in the UP position and even with the little stem pulled towards the wheel all the way, it wont tilt down? I hate to trailer it all the way to the dealership for this?
Thanks.

im sure you have tried turning the wheel and doing this, i say bang on it, but not to hard, the airbag might get you. i know a guy, i will get back to you asap

ok, i am thinking your truck is an 08 or later f150, best i can tell your tilt is under the steering column, it pulls down, then you adjust your wheel and pull it back up, correct? anyway there is a plastic piece in there that is known for braking on these trucks. check pm.

Also on that note. You can remove the panel under the steering column and loosen the bolt on the other side of the metal tab, so there isn't so much force being applied to engage and disengage the steering column.
for an 08 also
It is not worth the trip to the dealer. This happened to me and the lever is just a wedge fit on a tapered rectangle. All that you have to do is to take out the 2 screws under the steering column and slide it back on. I too use mine every time that I get in and out and I just pull it forward to me every few days to keep it tight. They should have at least put a set screw in the darn thing.
found this stuff in some forums
hope i am wrong!

Um, I believe he's talking about his RZR, since this is in the RUV section.
Thought you were joking at first about the airbag!

I've seen this happen befor and I'm just trying to remember exactly what it is. It's something that isn't screwed in far enough or too far.
If I remember right, look at the end of the little adjustment shock where the lever is and see if you can turn it. I'm almost positive that's it. If you sent me a picture of it I'd probably remember better.

Yup, we were talking about the RZR, went out just now to look at that nut on the end of the cylinder shaft and I figured what the hell, tried it and it worked perfect. Wonder why it wouldnt move yesterday, but worked fine today, I hope this isnt a constant problem...
