View Full Version : When to Replace Fuel Filter?
Ok the owners manual says to replace the inline fuel filter every 200 hours or sooner if the fuel has been contaminated.I've got almost 150 hours on mine and have not replaced it yet.Should I be running out to get a fuel filter replacement right away?? When do yall change your fuel filters?? and if you havent done so yet when do you plan on changing it?? Hours?? Miles??
I currently have 852 miles and 138 hours.
Thanks to popo500efi for pointing out my mistake.

i would change it. you will probably notice a difference in how to bike runs. i changed mine at 150 hr just because i don't know how good the gas is.
just wondering how many miles do you have on your bike.
I'm just under 852 miles,I dunno how I overlooked it.I'm going to get a replacement this week.

rubberdown, the fuel filter is located in a little holding thing over top of your rad.

has anybody replaced the fuel filter with just an automotive one. polaris wants 35 bucks for one. when i worked at canadian tire in the automotive department a remember seeing a fuel filter that looks exactly like the polaris one but is only 5 bucks. i think i am going to try it out. my bike seems like it isn't getting enough gas so i think it is a clogged fuel filter. i will let you guys now how it works out and i will post the number in the common parts thread.

Thats a lot for a fuel filter.I wonder why it's so expensive from polaris.Try Babbits online.
Something doesnt add up here.Is there more then 1 fuel filter on our quads?? There's a huge difference in price from polaris compared to babbits.com. Anyone know why??

i think the fuel filter is different going from an efi to a carb and the efi one is more expensive.
I forgot that yours is EFI and mine's carbed.
Babbits wants $21.57 for the 06 EFI models.Thats before shipping.
Babbits wants $1.95 for the 06 HO carbed models.
Thats still a big difference in price.

Try bringing your old filter to an auto parts store and see if they can match it up with one for a car (or truck). Since Polaris isn't in the filter business they have to buy them from someone. I bet you can find a match for a lot less $$$.....GOTT
