OK, I figured I would be the first one to post a topic in here plus I have absolutely no fricking clue what a poker run is all about.

So..... can someone please explain to me WHAT a poker run is and HOW a poker run works ????? I read about them all the time on other forums but I have never been to one or participated in one so I have no clue what they are or how they work.

Okay, lets say I wanted to set up a HUGE ride and help out a small comunity food bank or charity, I would organize a poker run. The actuall poker run is a long ride for usually 4 to 6 hours of mud and trail with a few check points, at each check point you draw a card from a deck of playing cards, it gets recorded until the end of the ride. The ride itself usually costs anywhere from $10 to as much as $50 depending on where it is and who is organizing it. At the end of the run, there is usually food supplied for supper, and prizes for the best poker hands. Some times its cash, in fact it usually starts out with cash, and as the prices work there way down, it turns into actual prices, like helmets, cargo boxes, gloves, oil etc etc.

Always a good time, always lots of "STUCK" pictures to be taken, and always for a good cause.
