I wanted to weld some stuff together and decided on making an exhaust snork. so monday on the way home from work I stopped at a local pipe shop and had them bend me up some 90 deg pieces out of 2" pipe. I was planning on welding it together rather then slip fit that way it would give the illusion of being bent out of one pipe when in reality it is made out of four different pieces. I started out with making a flange. I allready knew how to make one since I made my own 2" tip. it wasn't long till I had a flange cut out and the holes drilled. I helped my father the majority of monday night so I started getting into the grunt of it yesterday. I started cutting pipe the way I needed this and that alot of eyeing things up. in the end you pipe that comes up must have pulled because when I tacked it together everything was straight. it is leaning to the outside just a bit. I smoothed over the welds with a flap disk on a 4" angle grinder. the only thing that needs done yet is painting it. I will use high temp flat black.

for now it is gonna stay straight with a tractor clapper on it. unless I get tired of the rattling them things make.

we'll see. I might mess with it to make it so it don't rattle. the worst part on the tractors is the bolt that basically holds the clapper to the clamp is normally loose and rattles like heck. so if I can keep that from rattling I think it is gonna be pretty badazz.

I did my exhaust the same except mine leaked alittle where it bolts on so I welded it at there to. I ride with it all the time. I did go to the tracker suppy and picked up a flapper for it to keep rain out. sounds like an old jonny popper if your old enought to remember them.

For the raincap, if you go to an exhaust shop you can get silent ones. They have rubber stops on them so they son't make any noise when the open or close. I couldn't take the noise of those damn things.

yeah mine is leaking where it bolts on also. I would rather not weld it tight but I wonder if a better gasket would work? it doesn't help that I can only get two bolts in either. I need to get that fixed and see if that leaks then.
