I am finally going to have time to paint my radiator bracket!!
What kind of paint has everyone been using?
I was told to make sure not to use paint that has ceramic in it because this would keep the heat in. They suggested to use Rustoleom BBQ paint, because it is good with heat.

I was hoping to use the duplicolor bedliner spray, has anyone used this? good or bad idea?

Also, I made my bracket out of aluminum rather than steel, will all of these paints still to aluminum as well?

Thanks for the info.

Stephen, I went and picked up my welder TODAY !!!!!! It is FINALLY fixed. I should have my frame done over the weekend, that is IF I don't have to re-do it. I'll keep ya updated on it throughout the week.

Mike, if it were me, and this is what I do with all the frames I do, I would have it powdercoated and not paint it. It only cost about $20.00 bucks to have it powdercoated and they have hundreds of colors available. It is MUCH more durable and looks better than paint IMO.

And Stephen, that means you're gonna play hell trying to sand the frame I'm sending you becauise it's powdercoated and not painted, you're either gonna have to spend alot of time and energy sanding or get it sandblasted, lol.

The duplicolor bedliner spray is nice stuff. Its real tough & goes on nice.
Rustoleom is also good. Never used the BBQ paint but their metalic does a nice job & stands up well. That is what my A-arm guards a done in.

ya i was going to get it sandblasted because a blue rad on a black bike don't look right. i wasn't aware that powdercoating was that cheap. in that case i might just get it powdercoated to save time painting

Stephen, black might even be cheaper because most places do ALOT of black powdercoating, especially for industrial businesses. If I want one black, my guy will do black for about $5.00 because they ALWAYS have black in the gun. He actually does black ones for me free and I tip him $5.00-$10.00 to slip in his pocket. I guess it will all depend on how close they are to you and how much powdercoating they do as to if it will be worth it versus painting it.

ok thanks for the tip. there is like 10 places that do sandblasting and i think a few of them do powdercoating to so i will see how much it is for the works.

;) Almost done with mine Stephen. Basically, just gotta take the radiator off my bike and make sure it fits in the new frame. This is probally my worst job I've done to date, it is so out of square I ain't sure the radiator is gonna bolt in,lol. Anyways, check out my new frame with our Team logo, tell me what ya think.
