I read that, whats it, a 950cc, thats just sick. I see lots of speed with chips and programmers to get around any rev limitors or govenors and then I see people getting hurt.... I hope not, but man, a 4 wheeler with that many pony's under the hood, that heavy, on trails, its bound to happen.
What do you think?

Thing is, its supposed to be lighter than our polaris's. First thing I thought was snapped axles. It would be cool to see an OE put out a bike like this with Axles systems or Gorillas, stock.

Axles are the reason I'll never buy an 800, or even a 700 (wellll maybe a 700 LOL) because those 800 machines have way too much jam for those stock axles, and if those paws hook up on something, guess what, somethings got to give, and a motor is likely a lot more beefy than a stock CV joint.

Totally agree. There's nothing that an 800 can go through,or 950 for that matter, that my little 500 Ho can't.

Yup, I usually went farther than my buddies 800 every time, he would just dig himself deeper, or spin the tires right off the bead on the rims LOL.

I was riding with a bud that has an 89 Moto-4 2x4 & he just drove over the hole & I sunk up to the seat. Power is not always the answer. :?
But it sure does feel GOOD.

LOL. Have to admit, I'm more than just a little jealous of all those "test" you guys got to do. And the mud tire deal with Stu? How do you get a job like that?!

I know this is an old topic but its impossible to do 4wheel burnouts. Unless its tied to a tree and you gun it. But not on its own. Its not pyshically possible.

Personally, I'm like the guy on Home Improvement. More Power?!? Oh yeah!! Picture it on tracks with drag pipes. I'm actually watching to see how reliable it is and then who knows. Cats are good bikes too. Then I could go find that guy with the Outy 800 at busco beach. I can see it now.....................

i agree with you buck i've seen one so far, pretty sweet looking really. it may have a whole lotta power, or even too much. it'd be cool if it would burn all four on pavement or wherever but i'd have to see it to believe it!!!
how many people have seen them running around
I have yet to see one of them anywhere.I have to stop the local dealer for a CV boot kit this week if they have one in the showroom I'l have to have look.

I ran into a guy riding one of these at Mud Nats, bout a 3" lift and some 28" laws on it. OMG (drool) its a pretty sick bike. Another buddy told me he saw that same guy earlier that day skipping across a mud hole cause that thing was crusing so fast. I'd love to have a motor that big on my Polaris.

I have seen one in person too and yes, it is a sweet ass bike... specially with some aggressive looking tires and I imagine a lift would just set it off....

It seems that with all the hype about the motor and the bike as a whole that I would have seen more of them at Nats, but I only saw about 6-8 of them. All of them but 1 were a dissapointment in the events also. I hear someone from Steel Horses say that the "spike load dampener" or whatever they call it was the problem in the pits.

What, is that like a limiter or something???
sdf1201
05-02-2008, 07:23 PM
It acts as a slip clutch mounted to the rear prop shaft. It "slips" when there is too much torque going to the rear end. Seems as though they should have put one in the front also as there have been several front diffs blow on these things.

Looked at one at the dealer the other day. Nice looking but did not like the ergonomics when i sat on it. Just did not feel like a popo i guess...
One thing i noticed was the axles & CV are small. Very small. The front cup looked to be 1/3 ? smaller than a stock polaris.
I guess they need a limiter if the axles are that small.

The 08 popo axles are a bit smaler than the older ones too.... or so it looks to the eye...

Your right i do remember hearing that they are smaller.
Rubberdown
05-03-2008, 12:20 PM
I have a friend that showed me his busted grizzly axle, I litterally laughed out loud when I saw just how small it was, the cup was a good 30% smaller in diameter, and therefore so was the inner and outer race of the guts. I brought in a stock polaris axle with a torn boot that I have to fix up for a spare to show him why I ride a popo and not anything else and he was pretty shocked at the difference in the CV joint on my axle compared to his...

Well, have not seen the 1000cc Cat yet, but I thought my 800 was big! lol I wonder how it is going to hold up!

My tcat is holding up very well. I have 200 HARD miles on it and not a single problem... that I know of... I did ALL the waterproffing very precise and I'm VERY happy with it so far. It wont do a 4wd burnout... not on laws anyways. lol Any questions on it just ask. I'm getting to know it pretty well...

My brother in law has the Prowler 1000 XTZ side x side and it runs about 4-6 quad lengths on my RZR and gets it out of the hole as well.
