View Full Version : Changing Fuel Filter (Carb Model)
I've got the replacement fuel filter and am going to change it this afternoon. It seems pretty self-explanatory but just wanted to know if there was anything I should know about before hand.Do I need to cut fuel off at the petcock before I disconnect the filter from the fuel lines?? Anything to know about when first starting the bike after putting the new filter on(besides turning the petcock back on)??
Thanks for any advice or tips.

It should be pretty simple and self explanatory Turk. It probally wouldn't hurt to cut the fuel off at the petcock but you shouldn't lose that much while changing it. The only suggestion I might have is change it on a cold engine, that way any fuel lost won't run down onto a hot engine or hot manifold.

I couldnt help but laugh aloud when reading that.Ok thanks for the advice.

Ok will do,it's a really, really small filter to say the least, little tiny white thing. If you are sitting on the bike it's on the right side just past the carb going towards the fuel tank,i'll take picture's for you.

when you start the bike after chnaging it let it run for a long time. i didn't let mine run long enough so next time when i went to start it it took forever to get fuel through the line.

Will do,i'll take it out and ride for a little while.
Filter was easy to change,it's a little tight of an area to work with big hands but all went well.RD I did take pictures of the filter and it's location but wont be able to post them until later today after work because they are on the home computer.

hmmm... thats it eh!
I'll have to take a lok see when I am fixing it this weekend or next week. I'm just waiting on my new axles and then its a long list of things to do.
1.) New front axles installed
2.) Anodized red 3" Rubberdown Customs front lift kit (oh ya baby, Pauly wants to play ;) )
3.) New floor board
4.) Make nurf bars for the floor boards and put them on, show them off and see what I can get for them on the RD market ;)
5.) Figure out whats up with the starter and solinoid (gonna have my Dad come by and see if it makes any sence to him what you guys told me to do with that meter)
6.) See about the fuel filter and changing it
Geezzz, that list gets longer everytime I think about it, no wonder I cant get motivated to do any of it :(
