Hello

I am in a shot gun only area for deer, I am not really happy with the slugs I use, so I am looking for recommendations! Now I use the Winchester BRI sabots. The good point is they are accurate, the bad is they almost never drop them very close to where I shoot them. ( they tend to run a lot ) This is not a shot placement issue, I have made shots thru the shoulders and they still run 75-100 yards.

I am shooting a Remington 870 with a rifled Hastings barrel, and a fixed 4 power Swift scope.

This year I am switching over to Hastings slugs to see if they do any better, the reviews on them are very good.

I am interested to hear your comments!

Thanks Dan

I know you are looking for shotgun advice but does your area allow Black Powder Rifles? I have never had a deer run off when I hit them with a 50 cal. BP slug. Just a thought.

you can use muzzle loaders here but the weather can really suck here during gun season, and I prefer to have a quick backup shot when needed. For my muzzle loader I use the Hornady XTP I am not sure of the exact grain weight, but it is like 330?? 45 caliber slug in a 50 cal muzzle loader.
