After school today, I rode over to the 4 Wheel Parts in Marietta and got an Edge Evolution programmer for my '04 F150. Holy Cow! Even on the "tow" setting, it's a huge difference. I also was able to compensate for my larger-than-stock tires and raise my speed limiter (for track purposes, of course)
The real reason I wanted it was because it doubles as 4 digital gauges. I currently have it set to read Engine Oil Temp, Trans Oil Temp, RPM, and MPH.

Woo Hoo!! I'm definately :target:
Maybe later I'll set it to the highest power setting http://www.downndirtyoffroad.com/phpbb/images/smilies/3gears.gif
Here's the truck itself. It's kind of a work-truck model, but suits me well

I have the same thing on my Avalanche. My only complaint is that there is no way to dim it down at night without going into the options and changing the color, but even then its damn bright!
Looks like you need some helper springs in the back of that thing!

Saggy butt for sure!
So what are the advantages of a device like that?

That's the 1st thing I noticed on my test drive, too. If you press the down arrow when you're at the "gauge screen" then it'll get dimmer. Up arrow makes it brighter again.

I have a small leveling kit on the rear, so it's really has about a 2-2.5" drop in the rear to start with...then add in the Sportsman 500. Yeah, it sags a bit

Slightly more HP, a bit more TQ. Firmer transmission shifts. I mostly just wanted it for the gauges, but I liked having the option to fine tune everything. Oh, and it will also show your engine codes when your CEL comes on.

I also find that on level 3 I get better mileage. so the extra cost of premium gas is offset by the mileage, and performance.
I also hace 34" tires so my speedometer was way off. The Edge corrected that.

I get a little sag with 2000lb's in the back too.
Wet soil:

Not as bad with wet mulch:

Actually, out of all half tons the F150 probably sags the least, especially with that factory rake.
My truck (4x4) hardly budges at all with the quad in the back.
Ogeechee lowered his so the sag will be more predominant. I leveled mine (2" rise in front) to get rid of the factory rake, but I must say it still doesn't sag much at all. That one pic of my tuck has 2000lb's of wet soil in the back, so not too bad.
I also have Bilstein shocks which helps carry the load much better than the stock shocks did.

i am going to say one thing, if the truck has factory warrnty and you bring that into a dealer ship for warrnty work ford might not cover it. i work at a chevy dealer ship as a tech and we can go into the computers and see if anything has ever been modifed even if the prgrammer isnt there when getting serviced. Its more of a concern with deisel becasue almost everyone is chipped. Just a word on that in case you run into trouble.

Mine's got a hair under 130,000 miles. Havn't had a warranty in a long time
But that is good info for the others who are debating on installing a tuner :thumb:

Yup, this is all true revo.
Luckily I have a good dealership that won't screw me on warranty. Why any delaership would screw a customer is beyond me anyway, unless it's something directly related to the tuner, but I've yet to hear anything in those regards.

I have a customer at a chev dealership and i was talking to him about the injector warranty on my duramax. He says its not the dealership itself in that case, its head office. They actually want a picture of the screen on the computer that shows the vin number and all the codes. I guess they can tell from that screen whether there has ever been a tuner on the vehicle. And if that shows a tuner, the dealer doesn't get payed for the warranty work.

Try hitting the enter button to dim it. I have an Edge Juice w/Attitude in my Cummins and when you press the enter button once it dims, and the 2nd time it shuts the backlight off, this is great for night driving.
If you think that it made a big difference in your gasser, see what they do to diesels. You might have gained around 40hp and 50ft/lbs over stock. Just imagine what it is like adding 120hp and 350ft/lbs!

I don't even think youd get 40hp out of a gasser tuner. On my Avalanche i couldn't even notice a difference in power. As mentioned, i noticed a difference in milage though.

the first 100hp on a diesel is wild. The next 250 is just crazy. Thank god for built transmissions and water/meth injection.

Funny you say that. I have a buddy with an 03' GMC with a 5.3 and he had a hypertec programmer. I went in and read the ECU and then had him put it back to stock and I read the stock tune. Compared the two of them and there was about a 3 degree change in the timing at a point in the curve and nothing else. It didn't even add fuel. It messed with the TCU tune a little to change shift points giving you a fealing of some kind of power increase.

Exactly. I just liked the firmer shifts, i don't actually run a tune in it anymore. If i end up keeping it i am going to buy a custom tuned ecm.
