what is the reason they dont have a dif lock and do they plan on putting them on their atvs in the future.
every other manufacturer has them so why not honda.
i like honda they make good atvs, but the 3wd thing is what steered me to another brand.

my "guess" is that they sell enough machines to plenty of happy customers just the way they are so they dont see a need to change anything. My other "guess" is that thier biggest market place would be farmers, hunters and general work machine types of consumers, so they arent interested at all in going rack deep in peanut butter and 3x4 works just fine for them.

These are just "my" guess's...

Honda keep everything the same because they know that us POLARIS owners are great people, and have excellent Honda Recovery Vehicles!!! LOL

Have you ever rode a Honda with front diff kit in it ?
Let me tell you it is close to impossible to steer I don't know why it's so much different than others but it is

They don't need it. Holding the front brake works pretty good. Diff lock is just something else to go wrong on them. The Big Red has diff lock though, so I am expecting it to migrate to the ATV's fairly soon. Maybe it will be on that new 800 V-twin with PS, low range, 12" of GC, stock snorkeled Honda that has been "on the way" for the last 5 years. ;)

The one you've ride was probably equiped with a spool locker, wich completly lock the two front wheel, the best diff locker you can put in a Honda is a Detroit Gearless Locker, wich allows a small difference of speed between the wheels, like for turning on solid ground, but if the difference is too big, then it locks the wheels completly. I personnaly don't have a locker in my Rinny but if i buy one, it would be the Detroit Gearless.

The DGL was still hard to steer in 4x4. It was alright in 2x4 though. It SUCKS in the snow. You have to run it in 4x4 and steering it is just miserable. I also had MudZilla's on that loved to wander, so it tended to randomly wander then want to keep going in that direction because of the locker. If you have a Honda, and want a locker, suck it up and either leave it alone, or buy another bike.

Well, cannot be worst than my fathers home made locker on his old 350... It's so hard to steer you can't even think of running with one hand.

Ya, I guess that kinda smashes the 3 wheel drive theory huh? Some folks just have to find out the truth the hard way. I thought the boy was gonna land on his noggin.
