Code 54

I have a 4.5 700 EFI and I am getting code 54 which from what I have been told is Engine Temperature Lamp: Open Load, or Short Circuit to Ground or Short Circuit to Battery.

To give you some history I just had to replace the relay that comes out of ECM cause it was fried. Do you think this is why? I traced all the wires and found nothing as far as a broke or bare wire. I don't want to ride until this is solve since the relay is over $100 a pop.

Does anyone have any ideas where to start at or had this problem before. I just ordered my service manual today so I don't have nothing to go by.

Try unhooking the battery for a minute to see if it will reset.

Yes the code resets itself, I did start it up and let it run for about a minute. I re-checked and no error code. I will have to go out and run it around the yard tomorrow to see if it comes back.

The code may have been held over from the parts change. Hopefully it stay away.

I hope is does too, but I have a feeling that it will not. When I put the new relay in I checked the codes and nothing ( the battery has been disconnected for a week). After I took around the block I checked them and there was the code.
