get a boston butt. for every two pounds, you'll need two cans of root beer. stab the pork butt a bunch with a fork, rub salt and pepper on it or whatever else you'd like, put in crock pot, pour in root beer, add water until it is at least half inch over the pork butt, cook on low for at least 8 hours. once done, remove the pork butt, pull apart, put back in cleaned out crock pot, add bbq sauce, enjoy :)

can't say i have, but it sounds good. course i haven't really looked for geese down here. i was born and raised in MN, so goose hunting was a normal thing. i just hope if there are geese down here, they aren't like the deer down here (big dogs, at best).

I'll try any recipe at least once. This is making me hungry!

So does the rootbeer give it a ginger type flavoring? just seems it would make the meat pretty sweet to me. I have used rootbeer as a substitute for water when baking brownies or cake, that works well.

not really. it does give it a sweeter flavor. i've been experimenting with vinegar based bbq sauce, so i've been focusing on the flavors of them. i'm trying to find the sweetest as well as spiciest sauces i can make, then tailor them down a little. once i get them finished, i'll post them up here. they are coming along nicely and easy to make. not to mention friggin' delicious!

I think it was that you put the breasts in the crock pot on low the day before you want to eat it, slow cook it in apple juice for about 20 hours, drain the juice, add your favorite BBQ sauce and start stirring it with a couple forks to pull it all apart, slow cook it in the bbq sauce for another hour and chow down!

Hammy, correct me if I'm wrong dude!

I do the same with ginger ale.

lay the strips on the bbq after the 8hr soak on low.

I might try that with some turkey breast this weekend.
