I run my snow plow off the rear hitch ball on my 04.5 model 500, its got the older style, big heavy duty steel in the back. Now if I want to make a plow for someone with a 2006 500 X2 and it has the slide in style reciever, is this gonna be strong enough to support a push tube for a snow plow?

i would say yes. ive pulled a small trailer (made for pulling a 4 wheeler) with mine and had no problems. i think they have a rated weight sticker on them. not exactly sure what it is though.

I think they are made out of the same material as the frame. Should be strong enogh.

Should be no problems RD...Landscaped the yard last year. Pulled small utility trailer full of beachstone all around the yard. plus numberous stump removals. I made a hitch from 1-1/4" solid square stock and bought a 5/16" pin at crappy tire. Its seen its fair share of work with no problems over the last two yrs. If you use 1-1/4 square stock just dont leave it in there for long periods of time, not much clearance. Dirt and crap builds up and makes it a bitch to pull out.(add some clearance if you use a peice of 1-1/4.)

RD, I move my bassboat around my yard with mine alot, the boat and trailer come in at about 3200 pounds, don't tell my dealer lol. This is the ball mount I fabbed up to get the ball high enough to move my trailers, as you can see it has quite a bit of rise to it and it's never given me a problem.

I pulled a 18' camper around a campsite last year. It was a little light on the bars, but it pulled it without a problem. And the Glacier 2 plow setup is the best one I've ever used. A little pricey but well worth it.

Thanks, I'll be making this plow, I already have the plow frame built, the plastic for the blade is here, all I need is a push tube and a clasp, then I have to make a hinge for the front like I did on mine and its done, probably under $200 complete.
