After reading Hammy's recipe that Paul put up on the pulled goose I wanted to give it a try. I didn't have any freshly shot goose kickin around so I figured I'd give the first try to chicken. I put about 4 pounds of skinnless boneless breasts in the apple juice for about 6 hours untill they were falling apart. Then drained off the apple juice and shredded the meat and dumped in a bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's bbq sauce and gave it another 1/2 hour for everything to blend. It came out realy great. Piled it up on some hambuger buns and just had some chips and pickles on the side. Super simple and very tasty. 2 buddies, me and Daisy cleaned out the whole 4+ pounds of it.

That looks pretty good man. Is it really sweet when it's done or can you get rid of the sweet with the sauce that you finish it in? I don't like my food to be sweet, it's the main reason I don't like chinese food.

It's really not sweet at all, you can taste just a hint of the apple juice in the chicken before you sauce it. After the sauce was in i couldn't pick up on the apple juice or sweetness at all. You could always simmer it in chicken stock intead if you think the apple juice will add to much sugar.

if you don't like sweet, you should try making your own bbq sauce. i made a hot one the other day that would scorch the earth! :boom: i've been working on vinegar based sauces for a few months now. they go great with pulled pork, chicken, beef, etc. they did pretty good for ribs, too.

Alot of times I will use a store bought sauce I like as a base and then add to it from there. I'm a fan of a vinegar sauce too, I like the tang rather than the sweet.
