Hey guys. 2009 Renegade 800R. What are the best upgrades I can do to it for more power, and/or getting power to the ground?

So far I was thinking Power Commander V w/ Auto Tune
EPI Clutch Kit
and I was really wanting a full Muzzy system, but by the time I get it shipped to Canada, I was told it would be almost $1000 so thats kind of out of the question LOL I was also researching some big bore kits for my bike, but no one close enough to me does them. I live in Manitoba, where no cool toy shops exist so I can't even get that done. I've asked this question on other sites, but kind of get garbled responses.

If anyone knows of some cool, aftermarket websites, preferrably Canadian that would BE AWESOME!! I was also looking for either a set of risers, or different handlebars for my bike, I find them too low for riding fast on this bike.

P.S Has anyone taken the new Rene lift out for a good spin yet Rubberdown??? I'm really excited to see how it turns out.

Can't help ya on the power, but welcome to RDC! I think the first actual ride on the new Renegade lift will be next weekend (20th).

These guys are from Alberta. http://www.gristleboyz.com/default.html . Sounds like you are on the right track with the mods, but are stuck with mail order. Pm wildboar on here, maybe he can help you out a bit.

Powercomander III, QSC clutch kit, and a LTE exhaust would be my choice.

Thanks for the help guys.

I heard guys were running into trouble running the looney tuned exhaust. Since they run the two pipes out the back, I thought I read somewhere there wasn't enough back pressure and you would flood your engine? And also some guys running big tires would hit the can?? I don't know if any of that is true, I just read it somewhere on the net. I am currently running 28" Silverbacks, there seems to be lots of room so far.

Oh yeah, I always keep an eye on Gristleboys. I often think about getting a Turbo kit, but I don't beleive theye quite as "bolt on" as they claim. For that much HP I would figure out a way to come up with that kind of money for it. But the amount I would have to spend on upgrades after that would be through the roof.

You can get a single slip on LTE. I'm not sure about trail riding, but I know several mud racers, that run the duel setup with 32's.

If you want performance this is where to go. First link is in AB, second is for BBK's but its in the states. Just a simple jug swap anyway, EASY.

Stay away from the "premade" clutch kits like EPI. You can buy much better kits and have them make the kit for whatever riding style you have. QSC makes a good kit as well as Dalton. If you have deep enough pockets Comet makes one of the best kits for the Can Am. All 3 of those kits are made to your specifications on how you ride and what you want.

A slip on pipe will give you some power but a full system will add even more. The Muzzy full system gives you one of the best power gains but almost any system gives you more power than stock. The LTE kit and the HMF are both good choices also.

The PCV with auto tune is nice of you don't have anybody near that can tune the bike. But it requires welding in a bung in the exhaust for the O2 sensor, on both cylinders if you want to do it correctly. The PCIII is a good bit cheaper but you have to tune the bike yourself or have somebody tune it.

The 09 stock air filters flow more than any aftermarket filter made to date, so you really don't have to worry about it. There have been many dyno test of the stock 09 filter vs all the aftermarket ones and it did better than any of them. It was also tested against running no filter at all and the gain with no filter vs stock 09 filter was less than 1% power loss.

There are several people making huge leaps in the big bore world for these Rotax engines. MrRPM is one of the best known and most used kits. He has a true bolt on 840 kit and a 912 kit (I think it's 912) but also offers a 1004 and 1069 kit as well. He makes cams, head work, intakes, clutches and much more also. I have seen some monster numbers out of his engines including a 300+ HP Renegade that he races. Look on you Utube and search for MrRPM and you will see a ton of videos that John Cannon has put up. Just about every engine kit he makes vs another one of his engines in straight line drag races.

Hope you get your bike like you want it. They are a blast right out of the box but so much has been made/designed in the last year or so to make these bikes truly untouchable.

Thx Mac, and Bankrupt. I have been researching the MrRPM kits a lot. Originally I wanted to get the 912 kit, but unfortunantely there aren't enough shops within a day's drive that have enough experience with the Rotax engine that I would feel comfortable enough letting them do that to my bike.

I have also been e-mailing Kevin, from gohardracing back and forth a couple times. He and his friend have been developing a 912 kit (or maybe just used MrRPM's, I don't know) they recently did a dyno and it pulled 87 rear wheel horsepower. Which is a nice gain. Kevin informed me though that his friend has almost $6000 invested in the bike. I don't know if I want to spend that much in one shot, but over time I could. I don't mind spending good money for performance, I know it's not cheap, I just want to make sure you get the bang for your buck.

I will research the comet kit tongiht when I get home. To be honest, I've never even heard of it before. I've heard a few things about the Dalton kit, but the nearest parts dealer for quads isn't sure if he can get it...plus he doesn't return calls either.

comet clutch are no longer they went under. so unless you find the set up used you wont get a new one. the clutchs that ppl useing now for big hp set up are the STM clutchs witch is about 1400 for promary set up and 400 for the secondary set up

I've never heard of tires hitting the LTE pipes before. I've ridin with some other gades with their exhaust and 30" backs and they had no issues.

Thats nice to know. If I can get a Muzzy at gohardracing for around $650 then I think I will go that route. Everyone that I know that has one says they are the best. Could just be coincidence too though lol

Next I need a clutch kit. I'll probly go with a Dalton by the sounds of it then. Are the Power Commanders a real pain in the ass to tune, or can someone like me (who's never had one) be able to figure it out?
