I ordered the new Gen II Can Am lift last Thursday evening. I wasn't even expecting it to ship until yestersay. Much to my suprise I had a tracking number saturday and the lift arrived today. I also recieved the SuperATV rhino axles yesterday so tomorrow I start the install. I just gotta go pick up a couple GA jackstands this evening.

So far I must so that RD's customer service has been beter than a guy could ask for and the lift looks great.

I snapped some before pictures for reference. GC at the center of the 4wheeler measures 14". The bucket is there for the before and after reference. The rear sits about an inch and a half lower than the center. I currently have a pipe lift in the front and the rear springs are cranked all the way up with no other lift.

Heres the pics, I had to take them with my phone so please excuse the quality:

Thanks Rubber Down

should look sweet when its done.

Is it just me, or does the right rear tire look bigger than the left??? Before lifting it id check all the tire pressure to get an accurate measurement.

it does look bigger. I havent checked the presure in a long time. I lost my ATV gauge and the one I have in my truck doesnt go down low enough. I'll check it out when I go work on it in the morning.

Looks real good.

Just a question from a noob on the lift.

Why did you get the axles? (personal preference or do you need them with that lift?)

What is the difference in Gen II kit and Gen I kit?

thanks for this info, going to jack mine during summer.

The difference between a GenI and GenII is in the rear. A GenI is only a spring spacer, not really a lift, but just designed to take the sag out of the factory springs.

A GenII is a full bracket lift front and rear. The factory axles do not have enough travel in the CV-joint plunge joints. If you were to put a GenII lift in the rear without axles, you wouldn't make it out of your garage without either the axles pulling out of the dif or breaking a cup on the CV-joints or both.

I just finished installing my new lift. I was having trouble getting the axles back in the diff. I was hoping when I put it back on the ground they would settle in place but they haven't yet. Do I need to tear it back down and reinstall them? THe right rear is out about a 1/2" and the left about a 1/4". I recall having this problem when I replaced a boot before, but they eventually settled into place. Do you think this will be okay or should I try again.

The dust covers on the Rhino's need to be adjusted. Are the splines in all the way ( can you see them??? ) or do you just need to move the dust covers in??

And.............Where's the rest of the pics dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rubberdown

if you can not pull them out easily by hand, then they are locked in there, as hammy said, his was the same way, dust covered just need to be tapped over, I used a punch and a hammer to evenly tap around them to move them up to the dif.

SGTCap

Got it fixed, thank you. A 3lb deadblow hammer settled the dustcovers into place just fine.

I'm finishing a couple other small projects in the morning, then I will get the pics.

The boots still worry me. Seem like they are stretched kinda far. I think they may be hitting the CV guards to in one spot. I'll check it out again in the morning.

Hopefully the axles and boots hold up.

Hey, I am glad you mentioned this, I used a pair of side cutters and trimmed a tiny little bit off of Chads right CV gaurd, it was a little too close for my liking so I just cut off a tiny bit, maybe he can snap a pic and post it for you to show you what I did on his plastic gaurds.

My boots look pretty stretched out too at full droop, but in the 50miles on them.....so far so good. I may see if I can slide them up a bit.

These super atv rhino axles. Any thoughts or comments on them. I guess I haven't been reading much lately and I am curious about them.
Are they comparable to the turner or gorillas?? What about price wise??

Half the price of Turners and Gorilla's. They are a Gorilla copy made in China. They are made of 4340 chrome moly.
So far Aaron in this application, they seem to be fine.

Thanks hammy. When I get a chance, I'll search for some info on them.

So they seem to give enough in the joint for the bracket lift??? Man that seems to be a good deal if they hold up.

With everything settled I remeasured. Looks like I now have about 16" of GC at the skids. If I took off the skids I would probably pick up another 1/2". The very rear measures about 15" so there is a little bit a rearward rake, but not bad. Much better than it was before the lift.

Looks awesome! Is that rad bracket solid? Doesn't look too sturdy in the pic from the front. I would worry about it twisting and screwing up your rad.

SGTCap
03-04-2010, 06:01 PM
Oh yeah its solid. I used directions Got_Wake posted. Its gotten the hell beat out of it and still looks perfect. The angles your looking at dont show it off very well.

SGTCap
03-04-2010, 11:06 PM
no there really isnt much play there. I dont think its going to be a problem but I have thought about cutting the bands off and seeing they will move, then rebanding them.
