I'm not use to the engine braking of the Polaris RZR. Mine pretty much free wheels in 2wd going downhill, unless I tap the gas a little. Is this how the RZR engine braking working works? When I get to the bottom of the hill and give it gas to go up the other side, the engine brake really kicks in. Is this how it should work or is something wrong? I only have like 25miles on it.

I guess I'm use to the engine braking on my Grizzly and Rhino. I actually have to give my Grizzly gas to get it to go down some hills or I'll be there all day going down the hill. That's in 4wd Low of course.

That sounds normal, i know my belt drive king quad will do that, but its gotta be a pretty good size hill. I belive all belt drives are like this, people just dont notice it.

My RZR's engine braking is completely different than my Rhino or Grizzly. It's nowhere near as good. That's why I was asking. Is it supposed to be that way or is something broken?

On my buddies RZR's that I've drove, you do have to tap the gas to get the engine braking working. It takes a while to get used to, but it works pretty good.

Not sure how the RZR's are but my 09' 800 will slide the rear wheels down a hill if it's only in 2wd. No free wheeling.

Yes, the clutch will disengage if it drops below 1500 rpm's, or whatever the engagement rpm's is on your ride. If I really want engine braking at low rpm's i do the 2 foot method. 1 foot on brake and 1 foot on throttle. It seems awkward, but in low range and using that method will crawl down a hill.

I thought the same the first few time I was ont on my 09 RZR but Figures it out after a bit. Just got to tap the gas pedal a few times to engage the belt(raise rpm) and usually gravity will do the rest. A good idea to be ready to break with left foot if need and feather gas pedal with right on the steeper hills. Seems a bit strange at first giving it gas to slow it down. But it works great for me. Hope this helps a little
