Well the past few cold days I've noticed that my throttle has been frozen. I have been able to get the machine started and let it warm up then the problem tends to go away.

I was guessing that I had moisture in the throtle cable and I needed to get some WD-40 in there.

Well, I went out this evening to get ready for this damn snow storm that's coming I fired it up and the thumb throttle is now free floating. It doesn't appear to be hooked up to the cable any more.

I have not opend up the throttle assembly before. what surprises might I have inside, and how do I get it opened?

I'd love to be able to plow tomorow, But I think I'm S-O-L!!!

there is a cover on the top of the throttle box mounted on the handlebar, " where your right thumb pushes the throttle" to remove the cover use a small flat head screw driver and gently pry it off, do not try and pry it all the way off in one spot, work around all sides.

knowing the year and size bike you have will help with any removal advice at either the carb or throttle body.

Scott,
Thanks for the help. I have a '06 Polaris 500 X2. I downloaded the parts diagram and figured that was what i had to do. I found that the end of the cable somehow slipped out of it's spot. I put it back in, lubed the cable with some WD-40 and put it back together.

Works better now that I have a throttle back!!
