my dads 700 used some coolant when he went into the mountains a couple weeks ago. he even told me, he had to add some water while he was ther. i told him we need to check it for a leak. is there a good or common place to start lookin?

There is a seal known to go on these things down below, I think its in the water pump. I had to have mine changed, luckily it was still under waranteeee at the time.

My 600 leaked from the hose that comes from the bottom of the moter on the right side. The clamp was not tight enough. Easy to fix but still sucks i had to do it on a new bike.

ya this one hasn't been ridin very much at all and my DAD owns it....... i mean.... put-put-put .... EVERYWHERE lol so it ain't like it's been ragged on.

Check to see if any coolant is coming out ot the weeping hole by the water pump. Common on 700's. Means your mechanical seal is gone in the water pump. Happened to my brother-in-law twice.

yup the weep hole is the most common. I had to replace mine a couple of weeks ago. No big deal once you get past the 75 dollars for the seal
there for awhile I was doing alot of twin head gaskets?? I hope you just have a loose hose.
