So I rebuilt that damn starter right, and of course we bench tested it AFTER the rebuld with a battery charger, but NOT before we rebuilt it. Obviously it worked like a charm after the rebuild.
So I get it back into my machine and still jsut that same "click" sound in the solinoid...:frusty:
So as much of a pain in the ass as it is to pull out my solinoid and pull out the wifes solinoid and put her's into my machine and try it, I did just that. First I just held the solinoid, nothing, then I thought that it might need to be grounded so I put 1 of the mouniting bolts into it and put the battery back on and what do you know, it turned over.
Halalouya :amen:
So I go and pick up a new solinoid and put it into the wifes machine (seems that every time I break something, she gets the new parts and I get her used parts :( ) Her machine is back together and its running and purrin and alls good right.... NOT.
Next I go to put my side panel back on and the battery cover back on, my machines starting, I'm all happy as a pig in shit...... Aw shit, I left off one of the solinoid mounting bolts, son of a .....
So I take out the battery YET AGAIN and put in the littlre pain in the ass bolt with the stupid TORX head on it with a screwdriver thats way to long :censored:
I put the battery back in and turn the key over and.... wait for it.... here it comes.... "CLICK" (Paul is now curing at the thing and threatening to leave it out in the street now :yield: ) Now its back to exactly where it all started after that damn hydrolock with the fuel for cryin out loud.
So I try to undo the battery connections, play with those, and the connections on the solinoid and still just a click. I take out the batter and remove that mounting bolt that I just put back on and hope that will fix it. I bolt the negative back on the battery, and I just touch the positive and turn the key, "CLICK", then I start moving the solinoid around a bit, bending the mounting plate a little bit, wiggling wires, and then I touch the positive to the battery again and with the key OFF it starts to turn over the motor, WTF???? So I move the solinoid again a little bit and touch the bat. and nothing, I turn over the key and BINGO, it turns over. So finally, I bolt the positive lead onto the battery and all it fine now.
So whats the deal, is this solinoid also on its way out, or do you think I might have a bad connection somewher in the area of the solinoid or what.
Anyways, thanks for reading my long winder rant.... if you did read it all.
