What winch was the old wiring from? I'm far from an electrican but i'm guessing the solenoid or something could have a relay that shuts down when the winch draws over a certain amperage to keep from frying the winch. It might not be up to the draw from the 4000lb winch once you load it up.

Does it just stop pulling like it is slipping or is it acting like it is losing all power?

Is it a new winch? If not may need brushes cleaned! If new try hooking up direct to see if it pulls.

It's brand new first time using it.It worked fine untill the cable got tight then nothing.I call Royal Distuributing thats were I got it they said because it's new then it propably needs the new model soleniod.

I don'y know what U paid for it, but a warn at royal...hmm. I'd take it back and talk to Paulie about a viper. I'm pretty sure he said a 4000lb. for $250. Send him a pm bro.

Sounds like the solenod is shot. Which will work fine once you replace it. Dont understand how the new one didnt come with one. I know every winch ive bought has had one.

I called yesterday for a new one they want 105+ tax and shipping for that size of winch.I need a soleniod that will allow 308 amps to pass though.I'm trying to find a older ford starter soleniod that does the same amps.

Pretty much any remote or "Ford" style starter solenoid will handle 300 amps but I can't see how that will help, it won't be bi-directional it's only going to spool the winch one way.
