Man i really like the look of these bars. I might have to look into making a set once i get myself a welder.
Why buy when you can copy & build your own. LOL.

I've thought about getting something like that but I'm worried about them getting tore up in the woods. So far my footwells flex enough to fit through the tite spots but I still worry. Those Nerf bars do look good though.

Ya Jay, I've looked at those several times, kinda pricey though if I remember correctly. I just replaced a floor board and I was going to take it to the shop and mark up the mounting holes to make some simple but effective nerf bars but I never got around to it :(

too wide for me.
theres lots of places we ride, and i mean ALOT, that if you had those you wouldnt be able to go. i have a hard enough time as it is without them.

I have the same problem. Hell I just put new tires on, one size up and one size wider and I barely fit through some of the trails with tite trees.

How much did the floor board run you! I need to find a cheep set without using ebay. I will never buy from them again myself!!!! Long story for another time...
I have a set of bars in the early stages of fabrication but now im out of work i lost all my toys for building stuff for me. No more plasma cutter, lathe, drill, mill, welder, press, the list goes on...
I think i miss the freedom to build what i wanted more than the job it self:ohwell:
I can only think of one spot on one trail where a bike wider than mine would have problems. I am about 51-52" wide as it is.

I have a set of those on my Grizzly. They don't allow any flex on the footwell. If I didn't have them, I probably would have already cracked a footrest bouncing off rocks by now.

Same happened to me when I put on my 589's with the ITP's.I ended up being an inch wider on both sides

I looked at em too. My concern is that they will eat up some ground clearance right in the center where you need it most. I'm toying with the idea of using just a plate of 1/4"aluminum or maybe one of them highway signs with the good stiff tempered stuff (hmmm?) under my footboards to do kinda the same thing. Whadya think?....GOTT

That is going to be my first project with my new welder. I have the dimensions worked up and a Visio drawing as well. Just need to get the supplies. I will take some pics along the way.

i saw some guards/skid plates that someone made of of thick aluminum plate with a lip bent up to protect the side and bottom of the floorboard looked real simple to make
